Help please cant find marriage on free bmd

Hi there,
I can't seem to find a marriage between a Charles Edward Gowing and Elizabeth Mitchell between 1915 and 1940. I know in the 1911 census Charles is in India at an Army barracks in the West Yorkshire Regiement Prince of Wales own 1st battalion. But then i can't find the marriage, now if no one can find it and they married in India, how can i go about finding the marriage. Many thanks for your help
