Multiple Entries of same person in Members Tree

I notice if you change details for a family member is comes up with the person twice when you do a search.

You then wonder why there are so many large trees on GR. Probably cut them in half

It could do with the fact GR have changed format over the years

Thanks to all who replied. I guess I just have to ignore those matches.

I have had this happen odd times, mostly I delete, but if it was a match I wanted to follow up I'd message in the usual way.
However, I do have several duplicates in my tree due to inter marriage of the families. It's hard to talk about, never mind put in a tree. I tend to enter the name once, then cross ref using the name 'firstwife' or whatever, but sometimes you do need the name in more than once, otherwise it can be difficult to find the duplicate relationship.

I sometimes notice duplicates of one or two names in Hot Matches - but not 30. It might be worth pinging an e-mail to GR about it - although don't hold your breath for a logical explanation!

Not quite sure what your query is.

Are you inferring there might be a problem with the HotMach program or that there is an issue with the other members tree having multiple names? You could easily check the latter by doing a person search and looking to see what comes up for that member.

If you delete the match then it will not re-appear, unless you or the other member uploads a new tree. Also if the other member has uploaded a tree since the last HotMatch run, then the results are likely to be invalid, at least until the next HM update.

On the other hand is the issue that the other member has not replied to your message? Unfortunately this is a fact of life - the topic gets aired at least once a fortnight but there is not a lot you can do, other than to check if they have opened your message. If so then a follow up might prompt a response, as at least they are out there somewhere.

GRU keeps sending me Hot Matches for people who are shown on the same tree up to 30 times. I have messaged the Tree owner but get no replies.

What can I do apart from discarding the matches each time?
