The american cencus can be searched upto 1930 to find possible children.

I think that Chicago is in Cook county.

Went to USA about 1920. He died in 1937 age 45, adress was 3405 Puleski rd,Cook.,Chicago
Wife was Kathleen R Turnbull on death cert

Sorry marion, Tried everything i could think of to find john but no luck.

Only thing that i could find, which i assume is his death?.

Couldn't see any 1930 US census for him on Ancestry which fits - but someone else may have better luck

I found this but it doesn't jive with the date(s) you gave:

Ellis Island has a John Turnbull arriving in America 3 Sep. 1923 aboard the Lusitania. He was 32, born Dundee, Scotland, married, an iron dresser. His wife was Mrs. J. Turnbull, 46 Charles St., Dundee, Scotland. he was heading for Brooklyn, NY to join friend Mr. P. Reilly, 250 57th. St., Brooklyn

Hi Margaret

On his death cert in 1937 says he was resident 17 yr when death accurred.,so he would be there abt 1920.

Marion I don't know if this is any use but I found this family tree in Ancestry and thought you might like to check it out.
I've searched the census records for Chicago 1920 and 1930 and can't find him...... but someone will, don't give up!

Yes thats him,they dont have any other info on him.
They got the same info from the death cert....I have a copy of it.
