looking for a marrage of a johnson and his wife circa late 1940's just wonderd if frank and doris would be nicknames ie francis and dorothy? what do you think can't find thier marrage been looking litrally all day!

Doris is a name in its own right.

Frank could be short for Francis.

One or both could however be second names that they preferred to use. My Aunt Peg's real name was Elizabeth. And Uncle Jim's full name was Ernest James ... they drive you mad don't they?

Some were Frank, some Francis, etc. etc. And yes, they do drive you mad!
Best bet is to find the marriage based on their surnames - often you can see the right name once it looks at you. Elsie is just a name in its own right.

There is a marriage in the 1950's between a Doris and a Frank. Could this be the one or is it too late?

thier son david was born in or around early 50's. think his middle name is francis, i deleted an earlier thred on this as i think i was confusing people. the son is known to be living in colchester in 1987 when his son, mark ian low was born.
