Because his mother was unmarried and unable to bring him up?

A wartime accident while mothers hubby was away fighting?
That happened a fair bit in both wars......

If you look at the BT phone book on line, you will see that there is one Goodlass listed in the Liverpool area but their address is actually in Wallasey which is across the Mersey. Might be worth a try though.

Hello Suzanne, is this your grandfather's death record?

Name: Ronald Goodlass
Death Registration Month/Year: 1951
Age at death (estimated): 36
Registration district: Liverpool South
Inferred County: Lancashire
Volume: 10d
Page: 504

This could be his marriage:

Name: Ethel M Lambert
Spouse Surname: Goodlass
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1938
Registration district: Liverpool
Registration county (inferred): Lancashire
Volume Number: 8b

Do you have any other names you can give....what is the connection with Middlesex as most of the Goodlasses I have looked at seem to come from Lancashire and Yorkshire. Cx.

Suzanne, if you search trees just on the surname there are quite a lot of people with that name.
Might be worth trying to make contact with some of them
