I have several of them. One contact - Hi Sarah, I know you read the posts! - is related to both me and my husband several generations back, even though we weren't born in the same town (or even the same county!). Another I've sort of lost track of, cos he appears to be related to me in about ten different ways (and only lives a few miles from me - I'd never heard of him till recently).

Yes discovered that in 1760 my husbands ancestors and mine only lived 3 miles away from one another in Devon. We both were born in London. Often wonder if they knew one another.

my daughter moved to Sunderland to be with her boyfriend a few miles away from my dad 's home town of Gateshead While I was visiting , his mum showed me photos of hull where her relations married in early 1880 .This was 2 sts away from my birthplace .In 1881 census my gran lived on the same rd as my husband 's family, my daughter 's boyfriend 's relations and inlaw's .This was too much of a coincidence for me and I was hooked, ended up buying laptop ,certificates signing up to genes and spending my days at the history centre .

The biggest coincidence I have is that my cousin bought the Manor House of a small village, then I discovered a document which showed that the house had been previously owned by one of our ancestors in 1672, he was involved in the Civil war, and the house was damaged by fire.

But I have also found myself searching parish records time and again for different names, and realising I have searched the same records before for other families, did they realise at the time that 4 generations on their ggrandchildren might marry?

Does anyone else have coincidences in their trees? I now have three. They are:

I have found a contact on my father's mother's side on this contact's mother's side who, coincidentally is also a contact on my father's father's side on the same contact's father's side. ( I hope this makes sense).

Checking through the 1901 census for my g.grandfather's family I discovered my husband's family lived four doors away

And

Bringing unknown living relatives up to date I discovered my mother's sister's g.g.grand-daughter married a descendant of my father's mother's mother.

Does anyone else have coicidences too?
