Bennett births help please

Hi Christine, I have checked Ancestry but cant find anything, apart from the ones I have. This family have been a nightmare, I believe the father was a Charles William Bennett born about 1838 who married my great aunt Harriot Coller in 1859 , this marriage appears to have ended by 1861 after a son was born, In 1863 I have found another marriage for him to a Mary Linford, all the details for him are exactly the same as for the marriage to Harriet, but If I have the right Mary Bennett on 1871 census she states she is a widow, cant find a death for Charles, Perhaps the only thing to do will be to buy birth cert for Georgina and see who father was. thanks for your help Chrys.

As Bennett is quite a common name, the one for Georgina may be correct but obviously the one for Laura in 1866 isn't.

The baptisms may be on ancestry, do you have the subscription covering those records?

Hi Christine many thanks I wasnt aware of that about registration. Hi Jan I have found births for Georgina in correct place and at right time but Laura appears to have been registered in the right place but in 1866 not 1869 or 70, she is 1 year old on 1871 census, I have not been able to find anything for Mary who was 9 and born, it looks like New Cross.

I thought Chrystine meant she could find birth regs for Georgina and Laura in the correct areas but they were both in 1866, Laura's should be c1870

A bit confusing this. Are you saying you have found Georgina and Laura but not Mary? Where does 1866 come into it?

Birth registration wasn't compulsory until 1875 so they may not have been registered.

Hi all, on the 1871 census I have found a family of Bennetts, But Im very confused. There are three daughters Mary age 9 Georgina age 4 and Laura age 1. I have found births for 2 but not for Mary, but they cant be right, both are in 1866 and in the correct places, I have done a year by year search for all of them but nothing is coming up apart from these I have found, would it be possible for someone to have a look for me, I have been looking for days and cant find anything else. Georgina Wandsworth, Laura Marylebone and Mary New Cross I think, Image not clear. thanks Chrys.
