Was her mother’s maiden name Halewood?

Unfortunately, it would seem Ancestry’s Birth images are down, so I can’t view.

From reading other threads, I gather that if someone is officially adopted, then their original registration ceases to exist. There are a few clerical errors when the deletion fails to take place.

As it is still shown, then presumably it was a fostering rather than adoption, and there is a chance that you can find a marriage or other BMD record.

You really need someone with more knowledge to advice

Thankyou DET, the name was her birth registered name, it was war time and I think my mother kept her for quite some time i.e months, until her husband came home on leave and she was made to make a decision, him or the baby!! I don't know if it was a legal adoption.

Is that the birth name or the adoptive name?

Have you searched trees on here?

Have you contacted the Social Services for Birkenhead, possibly Liverpool?

Just throwing ideas out before anyone starts searching. There are a couple of people who are expert at Adoptions who may see and be able to help.
