1881 - Ninian has been mistranscribed, I assume.


Have you traced further back? There's a Ninian Blakey on the 1861 with son Ninian aged 1 - probably the same. There's a baptism on the IGI (www.familysearch.org) for Ninian Blakey in 1832 in Berwick, probably Ninian Snr's father.


Interestingly on the 1861 with Ninian born c1859, there is another son to the head of househould (Ninian Blakey born 1832) called David Gray who is 14 and born in Scotland. Now this is either Ninian's son from when he was 15/16, or it could be his wife's son from a previous marriage (wife is Jane aged 32, born in Scotland). Let me know if you want the image/details.
