I have also found a relative in the Chelsea Pensioners records even though he was only in the army for 22 days before he purchased his own discharge!!!!

I found some Boer War army records for my relative on Ancestry under British Army WWI Service Records, 1914-1920, even though he never served in WW1.

Thanks Sisterbee I have taken a note of David Biggins and I think I have another Boer War ancestor so perhaps I will give him a try.

Hi Barbara,
I found lots of stuff on my gr-grandfather's exploits in the Boer War from a man called David Biggins. Find him at [email protected]

I had tried Kevin Asplin and, though he very kindly looked for me, he couldn't find anything as my gr-grandpa was not with the regular forces. David found lots of papers with some very interesting stuff on them and I was delighted. Only cost me about £20 ish.

Just a thought.
Best of luck,
CC

Ann and Bob,206719,at W 0°16'53.25'',N 52°35' 59 just to let you know how thrilled I was to receive the papers yesterday of my g.grandfather and gg grandfather from Kevin Asplin. I only paid him on Wednesday!! Fantastic service and I will certainly use him again when necessary.

I am so grateful to you both as I have been searching for these two for well over 2 years.

Best wishes

Thanks Ann and Bob 206719 for your advice. I have now been in touch with Kevin Asplin and he has agreed to do further research for me for a small fee.

Thanks again for recommending this fantastic site.

I'll second what Ann says, I use "Dogpile"(mainly 'cos its in my favourites) always have done.

Kevin Asplin has a Boer war site, and also as Ann says.
some time ago he did some researching re: my wifes' G/uncle for virtually the price of a couple of pints(plus expenses)
(LOL the uncle spent a lot of time in the glass house!!)
Bob

edit,
ive just been chastised!! verbally.......it wasnt a grand uncle but her grand father.....the rest of the story is true.....

I cannot understand this fixation with Google. If you put what you are looking for in any decent search engine it will find it. To look at anything to do with the Army, look at Kevin Asplin, there is a fund of information. The site is very interesting. He did some research for me regarding my GGrandad, for a small fee, and I received all the army paperwork.

Good hunting.
