Can you tell us which census and what the names and area are so we can look for ourselves?

dont think so the family were all listed on the census records , howerer one childs name appears with the letters u.m written just before the name. i am aware that the head of household was the second husband of his wife, hence my comments earlier suggesting whether the child in question was born to the mother but not the father.

The only ref. I've seen prior to the name on a census sheet is U / O. Referring to the house number as being un-occupied. Could it have been a transcription error, u/m instead of u/o

would anyone happen to know what u.m means written before a name? i know it usually means unmarried or single when printed in the column regarding marriage status, but wondered if it could possibly mean that the parents were unmarried when the named child was born? or maybe i,m just looking into it too much! please advise!
