you've got a point there, that's a great idea, that way i wouldn't be causing any upset if they didn't already know about his other children, not that they should be hidden away but i'd hate to just jump right in and upset the apple cart, if you know what i mean.
thank you

It may be there is someone out there who is desperate to know about Albert's previous marriage and make contact with descendants.

If you find someone researching your Albert you could always send a 'bland' message saying you have him as the son of ---- Who married Mary Kelly in 1946, Birmingham but there is a possibility he remarried at a later date.

If your contact is in any way interested then they have the opportunity to come back to you and ask questions.

Good luck
Chris

thank you so much for all your help, i'd have still been looking next year! i'll use all the info you gave to continue on searching, as albert would have married again and possibly have more children im a little worried incase i upset any living relatives he may have, so i should just continue on from my great grandparents... a little safer i think!!
thanks again rose.

Someone called Nigel has Albert in his tree. Use the search at the top to message him.

You were lucky. I just looked on FreeBMD for Albert Collins born around 1924. There are lots but there was one in Birmingham, so I concentrated on him.

You could look on FreeBMD for his birth certificate, send for that and get his mother's maiden name then look for their marriage to get their fathers' names.

What kind of dates are we looking at? Would they be on the 1911 census or 1901?

hi
i've just got my grandparents marriage certificate to gain information about my grandfather who i've never met as he lost contact with my mum when she was just a child, i've now got a rough d.o.b for him and his fathers name, how do i use this to find out more info on his parents and grandparents? i've searched ancestry to try and find his mothers maiden name, marriage details, but just can't see for looking, any tips would be great, thank you.
