Hi, an alias is usually another name for that person, in other words another name they use or are known by

I don't have it on a baptism but on one of my marriage certs it gives two different surnames for the spouse, 1. being her mother's maiden name and 2. being her stepfather's name. Coincidentally her real 'birth' name wasn't mentioned on her marriage cert. at all!

In an 1819 Baptism register the child's father is entered as John Wright (alias Plant). Please has anyone else come across this kind of entry, and does anyone know what it might mean?
