Too many options I guess! To be honest, I don't click on the arrows, I just click on the box and work away with whatever I am adding at the time. Yes, you do have to have an existing relative to progress and sometimes you can't really help adding 'unknown' because you really don't know that particular surname or whatever....but you try and find out when you have time! ? I'm confused. When you click on the box on the tree there are arrows, left and right will give you empty sibling screens, up and down will give you screens for parents and children. Click on the arrow and you will get a dialogue box asking what you want to add, sibling, parent, spouse or child, click on the relationship and fill in the details in the form below. You always get a fresh screen for every new name you add. You have to to have an existing relative in order to progress to another, or enter a bridge to get to somewhere else by putting in unknowns in place of names, but that is not recommended.

Hi Louise, as Derek says, there is a toolbar (just above the picture frame) but you need to work carefully backwards through your tree, you can't just add here and there. You will see the possibilities - parent, sibling, whatever, highlighted. Hope this helps. Cx.

when you add names to your family tree..you will see where to put their details..name place of birth etc...at the top of that particular page there is always a toolbar..add partner.add wife add father add sibling etc..........click on the right one,,and off you go!!
