I have spent hours trying to find a family on the census..Any directions would be most appreciated. Birmingham area
Thomas Henry Hall married to Annie (formerly Tooth)
children: Lavinia Maud Hall b. 10 Nov 1889
Also:
Florence, Et, Edith, Beat, Bert, George, Sydney, Perce, Ernest.

With so many clues why can't I find them on the census?
THanks for any input
Jill

Sorry I didn't come straight back as I was called away and had to go out.
Thanks SO much Kath and SatNav. That is a huge leg up! I thought I was getting better at this, but I searched and searched. What was I doing wrong?
Thanks again

Which site were you using to search? If it was Genes then I wouldn't bother. Ancestry is a much better bet.

I looked on freebmd and genes. I have tracked down the route my "helpers/advisers' were using on these two sites. I shall be going for a free sample of Ancestry very soon,

thanks
