Hi
Can anyone help i am looking for the closest Church to Church St in Staffordshire , My Husbands Ancestors all lived in Backwalls North in Stafford , I am looking for the Burials , They lived in Clarkes Court in 1901. Thanks for any help

I think that the parish is shown on the census image.

Yes the Parish is shown on the Church but it Just Says St Mary's, And there are a couple of St Mary's just wondered if anyone knew which one it is

Hello,

The nearest church to Back Walls North would have been Christchurch (now demolished) but St Mary's is not far away, near the centre of the town. However the burials could have been at the main cemetry on Eccleshall Road. There is a newer cemetry/crematorium (From 60s or 70s) on Tixall Rd.

There are quite a few memorial inscriptions for Stafford on the
www.wishful-thinking.org.uk/genuki/STS/MIs.html site, and you can find the streets etc on maps.live.com.

Backwalls North is now known as North Walls, but has changed greatly over the years.
