Your grandfather's marriage cert would give his father's name and occupation. If you want help in finding the cert, let us know.

Thank you Dee. That gives me a few more things to check out! I was told by my Mum that Grandad's Dad was definitely called Henry. It is possible however that Ernest could have been a brother that brought the baby back as 'Henry' was in the Royal Navy at the time. Thank you so much for your help! xx

I would appreciate any help and advice. I'm trying to trace my Grandfather's parents. My grandfather's name is Henry Johnson. He was born 30 Nov 1910 in Santiago, Chile. There are no records of his birth in this country obviously. His father was also Henry Johnson and his mother's christian name was Dorilla, she was from Chile. I believe Henry Snr was born in Hull. Both father and son were in the Royal Navy but I cannot seem to find any records. I'm totally stuck on this one so any help would be appreciated! By the way - I forgot to mention that Dorilla died a few months after giving birth and Henry Snr re-married an English woman. Again - I dont know the name.
