Hi Margaret

My ancestors also lived in Lackawanna and were Miners. Where in Lackawanna did they live? Mine lived in Dunmore, Scranton.
The Lackawanna County PAGen website has been very useful for me in tracking them down.

Hi Margaret

What a coincidence! A lot of miners emigrated there because Scranton was a big mining area. Mine came from Durham and emigrated in 1880 and 1888, they were Uncle and Nephew. There are Scranton directories for the 1880's in which I have found my family, also Dunmore Forest Hills Cemetery ( sadly found some deaths) and Scranton marriages on the PAGen website.
Some of mine went on to move to Bethlehem P.A. because there was a huge Steel Factory there and some stayed in Lackawanna.
If you know where your Great Grandfather died, you can request a look up for his obituary from some very kind volunteers over ther

This is the address for any births, marriages or deaths between 1878 and 1906 born in the city of Scranton. After that date it is a different address.

Thank you everyone who has replied but I don't know anything more than what I have already written except that he lived and worked at ESTON before emigrating to Pensylvania but I will certainly act on the information given by your good selves
