i wondered if anyone could tell me if i have someones name but not address apart from the town and area of the town that they lived in ,could i find it on an electrol register. the name is an unusual name i and i think it would be perhaps one of only 2 or 3 people in that area. i am looking for records after 1945 but before 1951. would i be able to find them on name and area alone?
thanks for any advice

If in the Midlands you might be lucky, but unsure of anywhere else.

Are they likely to have had a telephone?
Lists of directories for that time are on Ancestry..

Electoral lists for towns can be quite complex to look through at first.
The town is split into Parliamentary Wards eg. Anytown, West ward....Anytown Central ward, ... so you'd need to search each Ward , which then each have that ward's streets listed alphabetically.
