Just looking at this again - if you are talking about births then it does seem you are out of luck as only marriages were recorded before 1864.

In 1845, legislation came into force which provided for the registration of civil marriages in Ireland and for the regulation of all non-Catholic marriages.

Further legislation which became operative in 1864 provided for the inclusion of Catholic marriages, together with all births and deaths, at which stage a comprehensive registration system was in place.

So, yes in theory, as long as they were not Catholics, it should be possible to obtain a certificate. However, not sure how you would go about this unless you know the name, date and place.

Try contacting the GRO in Ireland to see what they say.

I have several ancestors born in Ireland and would like to obtain the birth certificates of those born after registration began, I know that family search pilot has now got birth registrations in Ireland from 1864 but please could anyone tell me if it is possible to obtain a birth certificate from around 1852. I dont have a certain area, only Ireland.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks
