Saving my Ancestry tree onto FTM 2009

I thought that I had provided the answer.

Please check out the Help Pages on your FTM program, under Web Search. It describes how to copy information directly from the web (including Ancestry) to your FTM Tree.

However, you cant automatically update any names you add on your Ancestry Tree to FTM. Seemingly, the only possibility is to create a gedcom file from Ancestry and merge this with your FTM tree.

Just 'bumping' this in case anyone can answer this today? I can't believe, when Ancestry owns both programmes, that I have to then laboriously type everything I find on Ancestry onto my FTM tree!!

Help!!

Thanks for that.
I usually work on my Ancestry tree then add the info to my FTM tree, that's why it would be good to be able to 'save' to my FTM as well.
You'd think that as the 2 formats are so similar, and Ancestry owns both, that they could provide a way of doing it by now.

Whilst you can merge facts and media from Ancestry onto a person on your FTM database I'm not aware that you can automatically update names in this way.

I have FTM 2010 and use that as my master record. I then upload a gedcom to sites such as GR and Ancestry.

Hi all,
I have just bought the 2009 version of FTM (my old version was 2003 I think) and was wondering how to do something.
When I'm on Ancestry and adding detail to my tree, is there a quick way of automatically saving that info straight onto my FTM?? Other than doing a whole download I mean?
I don't think I could've done it with the old version but the 2009 one is obviously almost the same as Ancestry and it would be lovely to just press a button!
Thanks,
CC
