Ancestry has a list of transportations to Australia and Criminal Records. If you give us a name we will see if we can find him for you.

Well i'm not too sure who because i have a few names to look up. I was wondering if there was a reason for a family to go to OZ in around 1850/60, The names are John McDonald b.1825 Notts and his wife Ann (Turner) b 1828 they ha 1 child i know of bor Notts 1849 Richard and the i think the rest of the children were born in Lauseston Tasmania Australia. If you would have a look for me that would great, thank you. I do have ancestry but not thats not included in my subscription

I had family that went to Australia in the 1850's .... they went there in search of Gold as this was the period of the Australian Gold Rush

There was recruitment to Australia in the mid-1800s.

People went out as Assisted Immigrants .... just as they did in the 1950s/60s/70s

My father's family comes from a small village in Buckinghamshire.

An xxgt uncle emigrated in the mid-1840s, with his wife and children.

Then one of his nieces and a nephew emigrated in the mid-1850s. Both were married and had some children.

They went out separately, and ended up in different States.

I found a lot of information on this site, although it took some searching!
