I had been searching for a long lost cousin that I had not seen for nigh on 55 years. I searched for a marriage and found the right name in the right place, so now I had her married name, hopefully.

I searched GR and Ancestry in the hope that A) she was researching or B) someone had her in their tree. No luck. I asked for help on GR and A wonderful lady gave me a list of about 30 women with that name who lived in the UK. I chose the ones in the area I thought possible, and sent them each a letter.

2 replied, but they were not "my" Mary. I put this on hold over the Christmas period but then thought, no, this is not going to beat me. I asked again if anyone had any ideas as to what I could do next. A fantastic member of GR sent me the address of someone she thought may be her that had been found in the 2003 electrol register. I sent off another letter....BINGO with- in 36 hours I had an email...this was my Mary.

She lived just 20 miles from me and I went to visit her on Tuesday. Tears were flowing as she thought she had no living relatives and out of the blue I turned up.

Thank you so much to the wonderful helpful members on this site, you are fantastic.
