Hi

I have received the death cert of my ggg grandfather this morning which says he died aged 45yrs in 1902 in South Dublin. His name was Edward Ringwood and he was a Labourer living in Wattling Street, Dublin.

I have been trying to find his birth but so far no luck. I know his father was called John Ringwood going by his marriage certificate.
I have a sub for origins but this has not turned up anything either and wondered if anyone could point me in any othe direction to see if I might have better success elsewhere.

I have also looked on familysearch and so far come up with nothing there either. I know Ireland is quite dificult to research so may have to accept that this is as far as I can go but if anyone can help I would be so so grateful.

thanks in advance
tracie.

There are a few people on here specialising in Irish records - you'd do well to put Irish in the title of your thread.

Unfortunately born before civil registration started (1864 for births in Ireland).

If no one can help here, try asking on the rootsweb mailing list for Dublin.

I searched in for my Dublin Ancestor in the Records Office in Dublin but could not find a Birth Certificate but was pointed in the righ direction by a Genealogist in Dublin(free of charge in Dublin Nation Archives) He also said that a lot of births were not registered.
I went to the National Library of Dublin and they have a website of 60% of Dublin Baptismsand was lucky to find the Baptism of my Grandmother and her sister.
The same website can be found on
www.irishgenealogy.ie/index.html
Unfortunately it is not as easy to search as the one in Dublin as it is split into the different churches the Dublin website is searched by surname so well worth a visit
