Good luck.

I had the same problem once when ordering a birth certificate, same name, same small area in Wiltshire but not extra info to provide a checking point.

I wonder if you could specify a date of death, or at least 'before 4 July'?.....not sure how that works re. dates rather than names.

Thanks Gwyn, he was aged 25 when he died. I will try the lower page number and take a chance that it is the right one. What is the chance of the same name, date and area?

The one who died on the 2nd was aged 25 and died in the workhouse, whereas the later death on 27th shows no age and was on a hospital ship.

The page numbers don't really indicate the date of death, as the Greenwich registration district would be pooling information coming in from several sub offices before submitting the information to the GRO....
BUT if you have to go for one, if the other information doesn't give a guide, it would seem sensible to go for the lower numbered page.

I tried looking for the GRO reference for a Cornelius, who died the same day on the hospital ship and was also buried that day, but his registration on the index showed yet another page.
Perhaps that method will work for a different name though.

Hi everyone, I'm hoping for a little advice on a Death Cert that I wish to purchase, unfortunately, there are 2 coming up and I need to choose which one to buy.

George Peters 1854 Jul/Aug/Sep Greenwich V. 1d P. 969

George Peters 1854 Jul/Aug/Sep Greenwich V. 1d P. 932

Ancestry Parish Records show both of these burials, one died 2 July 1854 and the other 27 July 1854. My inclination is to buy the one from Page No: 932 because when his son's birth was registered on 4 July 1854, his father was deceased.

Am I right to assume that the George Peters who died first, would be on a lower numbered page?

Thanks......................Pat
