BDM cant find any for myhusbands Gfather

can anyone please help im trying to trace my husbands family we have his fathers birth certificate born july1914 in bishop auckland co durham father thomas oneil mother jane formerly allison tried to find their marriage in records but no luck cananyone advise on what to do next i am new to this please help margaret

Have you found them in 1901 census?

If you go to freebmd site and click BIRTHS, and then put O'NEIL in the surname box and ALLISON a few sections below that where it asks for spouse or mother's name, you will get a list of possible siblings for your father-in-law.

I think the register R#AUCK is the registrar's own register, so this would either be a register office marr, or a non-conformist (in 1901, most likely an RC marr) that the registrar attended.
