Thanks - it just didn't occur to me that it wouldn't be recorded. But I must remember "save image" when I spend good credits in the future!

Elizabeth - remember you can click "save image" when you open up an original on FindMyPast, and then save it to your computer.

I was caught out this week - I had some credits left with the 1911 census which I can also use on Findmypast - I went to Findmypast, found the family I wanted (my grandparents) and printed out the image of the census and was duly debited. I then found it was not on record on the 1911 site and in order to get it on record there I had to search and pay again.

So beware if you want to keep free access to your 1911 searches - go to the 1911 site and not via Findmypast

Hi Al
Thank you for that I was hoping you had more than I thought mind you if you are paying for a subscription I think they have a cheek limiting you at all as Ancestry and The Genealogist don't do that

Don't ignore the official 1911 version - the two use different search engines and often find different records. Use the official one to search where you have missing info or want to find a person living with another (e.g. John Smith with Jane). Note the results exactly and input that into the fmp site.

I have wasted loads of money buying units to the 1911 census website, got a bit frustrated cos what I looked for wasnt listed even though I knew the info. I bit the bullet and took a sub to find my past for the 1911 and have found loads of info. The problem is that what may be on earlier census has been altered a bit when the head of family filled in the census form

Noma , I wouldn't worry. I have a sub and look up loads never had a problem. There is a limit but more than adequate for your own tree. If you look on Record office Board you will see someone offering look ups and she is already on over 300
