Hi everyone

Have seen your messages - thank you. Lindsey, not sure whether John Bridger born 1776 can be my relation - only because he is on the Marr Cert for his son Henry Charles in 1874 which would make him 98 (and doesn't confirm that he is dec'd on the cert) not saying that he couldn't be 98 I suppose - what do you think?

Thanks x

That baptism in the IGI is not an extracted record so needs checking in the original parish records.

The original entry should give his father's occupation which would help verify the info you already have from the marriage cert.

Hi Lindsey

That sounds promising - do you know whether I would be able to get a birth cert or where I cld get further details on the information about the christening?

Many Thanks

Thanks Pete, still can't even find a baptism record or even on a census which I find bizarre, surely him or his dad would show on at least one census

The GRO Marines Deaths index for 1875 has the following listed:

Surname: BRIDGER
Fornames: Henry Charles
Name of Ship: ADRIA
Age: 50
Page no: 19

You could order the death cert from the GRO (remember to select overseas records).

So if he was 50 in 1875 his year of birth is around 1825.

Yeah that's the marriage, but the name is Bridger (confirms this on the marr cert - I think they have misread it when they have transcribed it on the internet)

Hi

Just looking for a little help if possible, I am really stuck with regards to one of my relatives, I have his child's B/C and his own marriage cert but cannot find a B/C for him or anywhere on the census

His name is Henry Charles Bridger and married Sarah Maria Quested in 1874 and he died I think whilst at sea (as he was a seaman) between 1875 and 1881 when the census shows that Sarah has remarried - on Henry's marriage cert it shows his dad's name as John Bridger who was a Coachman and again cannot find him on any census either - totally stuck

Any ideas?
