i am doing some research on behalf of a friend who has no access to a computer and little income so i am finding things a bit of a struggle. i cant afford to send for certs on their behalf so i am trying to find out as much as possible without.

i have a marriage in 1924

Name: Alfred A Donno
Spouse : Madeline M Aldron
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1946
Registration district: Hendon
Registration county (inferred): Middlesex
Volume Number: 3a
Page Number: 1796

then i have a birth

Name: Madeline M Aldron
Mother's Maiden Surname: Owen
Date of Registration: Jan Feb Mar 1924
Registration district: Swansea
Registration county: Wales
Volume Number: 11a
Page Number: 2069

these my friend can confirm this as correct and the name john aldron is very familiar .

i have found this marriage

Name: John F Aldron
Spouse : Mary Ann E Owen
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1921
Registration district: Swansea
Registration county (inferred): Glamorgan
Volume Number: 11a
Page Number: 2234

i thought that the surname aldron would be an unusual surname and i might have been in with a chance to find a birth but had no luck at all either in wales or england

anyone got any ideas i know that to send off for the marriage or birth certs would be ideal but my friend just cant afford it. i have tried to find a john f aldron on the 1911 / 1901 but no luck.
are we expecting too much without certs.

thanks
linda

There are very few Aldrons in England and Wales. Aldren is an alternative, almost all are from Lanchashire.

I am beginning to think you'll have to get that marriage certificate. This particular period is difficult to manage without spending, due to the last census being 1911.

I'll see if I can turn up anything else while you are thinking about it.
