Thanks you all make me feel so less grumpy today!

I just can't see the point of them trying to get info then hiding it...mind you I don't know how one person can have so many people in a tree..I have worked hard for years to get mine just over three thousand let alone 40,000 plus! That's like a small country!

Helo All
Just a thought from they way GR works I understand that anyone entered onto a tree that has a date of birth and no death year will in the way GR think potentially still be classed as a living relative? Meaning if they don't have a date of death they still could be classed as a living relative-even if they are 200 years old!!!!!!!!!!! ???????

Many people who have so many on their tree (40,000) could be what is commonly called on this site as name collectors and have no inclination to trace these very very distants rellies and what happened to them they just like to fill up there tree with names! Which each to there own haven't got a problem with that at all. It's just the excitement of getting a hot match and then finding the tree holder has no idea who they are!!

Happy Days!!

Hi
i have had that were someone who I know is connected to me has taken info from my tree but hasn't had the decency to to contact again,.the same person has contacted another distant relative who is not on Genereunited and again not contacted her after she had given him more infromation via email.
Aoart from this one incident I am in regular contact and exchanging information with quite a few distant relatives contacted through GR so most are very genuine.
When this happens I go through my contacts and delete any tree permissions who have not bothered making any further contact.

I've had several in the past few weeks saying "Please give me access to my tree", and they have given me access to theirs, and I have no idea who they are. So I've sent a message back saying "Sorry, I don't know how you are related, please can you tell me?" and - no reply!

Hi,Be wary of someone who give's you access to their tree on 1st contact.

They're hoping you'll immediately give them access to your tree !

If there's no dialogue...don't bother with them !

Just my whinge today..

What is the point of someone contacting you and requesting information and at the same time giving you access to their tree (with 40,000 plus relatives) of whom 90% are hidden so you can't compare anything to see if you have the same people in common!

Have asked for more information but they have read my messages and not replied so I won't be giving them any information anyway, but it just strikes me as frustrating....

I understand the need to hide living relatives ( I do this myself but at least I answer messages with details..)

Must just be having a grumpy Tuesday!! (lack of sleep caused by little person!)
