I would be grateful for advice re Thomas Noble brn Tipperary 1845.
These birth details I obtained from English Census. His father was a soldiers in the 69th Foot Regt. I have been unable to get any info from his army records!

Which census did you get your info from? I can't find Thomas on any!

Thomas Noble is shown in the 1901 census as living at 14Rose Street, Temple, Bristol, head of family, 56 years old, Dock Labourer, born Ireland Tipperary.
It is the only cencus that shows Tipperary all the others just show Ireland,

John, it is better to post any further info to this thread rather than sending by PM - that way everyone can see what has been found.

I am not sure if it is Nobles of even Noble - on the image it looks as if the "le" has been crossed out and "s" added.

1891 Thomas Noble, licensed victualler, several children, eldest is Thomas W b 1869, Bristol

1871 Elizabeth without Thomas; eldest child Florence, b 1867. Down as married, head. Sister Ellen Thomas, 12 bBristol living with her.

So it looks as if we are looking for a marriage between Thomas Noble and Elizabeth Thomas but this is the only possible marriage:

If you buy the cert for the above marriage, it will give you Thomas's father's name and occupation, which will make looking for his birth easier.

Birth registration in Ireland did not start until 1864 and I cannot find a Tipperary birth on the IGI.

Your information is much appreciated, I have details from the "Old Pubs of Bristol" website of the times he was a licencee at the Apple tree. My real problem is getting details
of Thomas birth in Ireland and his Irish mothers maiden name.

Thanks for taking the trouble you have. I have Thomas and Elizabeths Mge Cert. His father is shown as a Thomas Noble, but this is not correct I know his father is John Noble who was in the army of the 69th Foot Regt (born 1806 Frome). Best Wishes John.

There is a Thomas Noble, born Ireland on the 1851 with a father John, Chelsea Pensioner (oddly, a soldier in 1861). There are two other sons, both born in England. Have you obtained either of their birth certs, which would give you their mother's maiden name.
