Hi,
I’ve hit a brick wall with my tree and need some advice in how to proceed. I’ve traced my GrGrGrGrandfather William Wakefield to Finchley Middlesex, he married his wife Susan Summer at St Mary’s Finchley in 1823 and his first couple of children were baptised in the same church.

The census records state he was born in 1797 in Finchley and from all accounts lived all his life in Finchley.

I’ve looked through St Mary’s Parish register in the hope of finding any records for Williams Baptism hence his parent’s names or maybe any other Wakefield’s born around that time. The records between 1788 and 1807 show no Wakefield’s.

I’ve assumed that because William was born, lived and died in Finchley his baptism record would be in St Marys register. Were there any other Churches in Finchley area in 1790’s? I’m not sure what direction to go in now.

Thanks for any help

Brian

Thanks for the info but the other churches were built after 1800.
