Kathlyn
Edward Ellis Seagars' ancestrors may come from the village of Lynsted in Kent Edward Seagars and Mary Ellis C 1820 . My GGrandfather was Thomas Ellis Seagrs grandson of the above
I shall look for Edward Ellis Seagars later on

I just want to say that with all the wonderful info this thread has brought up, I have found that Eliza Mascott was Eliza Seagars first married name and that she was born Eliza Susannah Goudie.

Without the help from you all I would be as bald as a coote and divorced, as him in doors is fed up with me being shut away in the other room.

Millions on thanks

Kathlyn

Might be worth noting that there are a number of possible marriages for an Edward E Seagars after what you have 1911...may not be same but if you want I can PM them.

Just had a proper read......the name is Goudie, not Gandie.

Super help, thanks, thanks, thanks

Hi Carol,

Thanks for that. It throws out the Gandy/Gandie name unless of course she had married before. I will give that some research time.

Thanks a million all of you, you are great to give so much help.

Hello R.R.

Sadly, I do not have the marriage cert. Edward Seagars married my great aunt and there is a family "story" around him that I am trying to prove/disaprove.

I only just found out a few days ago that he was married prior to his marriage to my great aunt and the info I have on him is very scant.

His granddaughter told me this and that his mother was Eliza Seagars, nee Gandie/Gandie.

Do you have the marriage cert for Edward's father's name and occupation?

Kathlyn

Kathlyn Report 17 Apr 2010 18:37

I have found a Alicia M Cleary in the 1881 census living in Toxteth Park with her parents Nicholas and Alice Cleary.

I have not found Edward Ellis Seagars on any census. I have tried various spellings of both names but nothing.
I am told that Edwards mother was Eliza Seagars, nee Gandie (or similar spelling)

I am wondering about this one although the place of birth is wrong, on the image the next person down is listed as born Wandsworth...might just be that the enumerator mixed the two? worth checking maybe

How is Edwards surname spelt on other census as i can't pick him up on the 1891

Kathlyn

Kathlyn Report 17 Apr 2010 17:56

I have searched up hill and down dale for the following persons in the 1901 census, but they are no where to be found.

Alicia M Clary, born Toxteth Park, Liverpool about 1878

Edward Ellis Seagars, born Wandsworth 1870

They married in Westminster in 1902

I have found Alicia in 1911 but Edward is missing.

Please are then any more cleverer people out there than me?

I would be most grateful if another pair of eyes could find them

Kathlyn
