I am looking for my 2 x great aunts marriage, but have not found anything to date. She was

Jane Mawdsley, born Kirkby, Lancs abt.1853

married

Thomas Taylor, born abt 1858

There are no children for them in the 1881 census, so assume they may have married about 1875-80

At the time of the 1881 census they were living in Upholland, Lancs.

If this is "my" Jane, she was a widow by 1891.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Kathlyn, from what you say, I am guessing you have found Jane Taylor who fits profile for jane mawdesly and you are looking for a link? Or so you have another reason to believe she married Thomas Taylor? There are quite a few Jane mawdesly marriages in Lancs as I am sure you know.
Have had a look and like you can't find it.

Hi Jan,

I found Jane Taylor in the 1891 census living in the household of George & Mary Massie. Mary Massie was Mary Roberts nee Mawdsley and Mary was my great grandmother.

Jane Taylor is recorded as "sister in law", so assumed !!! this was my Jane Mawdsley.

I found one Jane Mawdsley married to a William Taylor and obtained the marriage cert. Sadly, having had contact with a decendent, this was not my Jane.

Nothing on Lancsbmd for Jane Mawdsley marrying Taylor in the years 1872-1879 inclusive

I found in the 1871 census a Jane Mawdsley born about 1852 living in the household of John Barley a cordwainer. Janer is recorded as "general dom servant"

This Jane was born in Kirkby and thought her a contender for "my" Jane.

A long shot......
