I'm not really worried about the look of my new name if it means I can lose my old one. I've never felt like a Penelope - just Penny (with or without space - is fine :-)

It brings back memories of school:
Penny-Lope;
Penny's Loopy;
Lady Penelope (aka Posh Girl - that's the polite version!)
Penelope Pitstop
and my personal favourite - Penny Puppy Walker. Anyone remember her? I could have killed the toy company!!

Funny now, but miserable when I was little. And then there's my maiden surname....... However, that's a whole new thread, probably on another board.

my name has just lost its musical notes and I cant get it to accept again, it changes them to a ? when I press save,so if i left it I would be ShirleyI,m getting the hang of it? rather than
ShirleyI,m getting the hang of it♫
I liked my notes BUT it did stop me getting into things like Hot Matches and I couldnt access the home page either so i guess i have to live with no notes now!!

Maybe it has something to do with when a name was changed? More recent changes have all the gobbelygook?

But then again you have been 'Bob etc' for as long as I can remember!....

you CAN get what you want, entered on the FIRST name line......but you might have to suffer some gobblede gook....

That has made you 'JustPenny' with no spaces...Is that how you wanted it?

If not then try my suggestion re first name in 'My Accounts'...You can always change it back if it doesn't work.

I am loathe to try changing mine in case I don't get my spaces back :-)

Hover the mouse at the top of the screen on Community, then click on Boards summary, and scroll down to

Community settingsCommunity name
Hide your real name and show a friendly alias when posting to the community boards


Then click on Save.

So if I went in and wanted to change from Chris in Sussex to Chris in Kent it wouldn't let me?

I suppose that means I would end up as ChrisinKent.

As brummiejan says go to 'My Account' and change 'First Name' to what you want as your board name. You do not have to change the surname section as only first names are shown on the boards.

Remember you have to use only a single name now.You cant leave spaces between names or use *** or any such squiggles as in the past

I would rather use a nick-name under the "posted by" column than my own (I never liked it!)

I have tried searching the Tips Board and the Genes site, but I can't find anything that works. Please could I have an 'idiot's guide'?
