The Ann Mathews that I am talking about was my gggrandmother. My great grandfather said that his mother remarried again but to whom I do not know only that she fell down some stairs. I found the 1861 Wales census of David Davies and Ann with her mother and father and brother, John Mathews,Charlotte his wife and son William Mathews. The parish or township was Margam and reg district of Neath. Household number 144. David and Ann Davies have children , Charlotte E Davies,Sarah A Davies,William J Davies who was my ggrandfather born 1874. His father died 4th Jan 1875.
In the 1881 census Ann Davies was a widow still. The family lived at 109 Bute St Margam. There are heaps of Davies in Wales.

Is this the family in 1871 - DOBs are a bit out to the ones you give and there is no occupaton given for Ann. All children born Llangyfelach:
