Help with reading a new CD

Can any of you computer buffs out there help me with reading a new CD for family research please?

I have a shropshire burials CD, put it into my drive and the box came up with all the icons. I double clicked on the Burials icon and a new box came up with 452 days trial with win zip. To view the CD it is asking me to buy winzip to get an activation code. Now, I didn't know I needed winzip when I purchased the CD, it didn't say on the sales information page when I ordered it and it doesn't refer to it on the CD packaging either.

Surely I can view it in a different format?

Any ideas?

PS: There is a telephone number on the CD packaging should I have any problems, but I have tried caling it and it is unobtainable.

Thanks
Dee

I have winzip on my machine for around 8 years now, cant recall where it came from but each time I use it to extract something it tells me that there are limited amount of days left............still keeps working though........think it may have come with a "bundle" of something.......

If you are being asked to install Winzip then it is likely that the files on the CD have been compressed to save space. You can download it from here

As Bob says, it is free to use, and does not appear to expire, but you will get popups asking you to donate.
