Many "certificates" available at the British Library give occupations. Not all military - there was the Civil Service and the Railways, for example.

on both sites I use to find people born in India there is no mention of occupation - generally though I think it's fairly certain they are all military personnel

Can anyone point me in the right direction, I have found ancestors living in India from 1844 onwards have names, birth, marriages and deaths but don't know what occupations they had.
How can I find out?
