Based on straight purchasing power, to buy something costing £100 in 1779 would require more like £10k today. However, in relative terms earnings have risen some 13 times more than prices have in the same period, so someone earning £100 in 1779 would now be on around £130 k.

Please can anyone tell me how to work out today's monetary value of £100 left in a 1779 will? I'm sure I've seen something on this but can't now find it.
Any help much appreciated
Molly
