Can anybody help me in doing a look up on the 1911 Census.
I've hit a brick wall and hope that the Census will give me a clue

I'm looking for Thomas Charles House born 1882 Dorset and would be 27 yrs old and I think he is in Portsmouth.

He died during WW1 and quotes that he has a wife, Beatrice but I can't find a marriage, so was hoping she is with him on the Census.

Thanks

Choccy

Thanks Choccy
He was illegitimate and changed his surname.
I have the WW1 War Dead page and have gone to Highlands Road Cemetery and did find the headstone.

At least I'm not cracking up in trying to find a bride because I've tried all sorts of combinations

Many thanks

would he have married with his birth surname ?

Hi Choccy

He was Thomas Charles Caines born 1882 Dewlish but his Mum later married Thomas Charles House (yes two with the same name) so he has taken the name House on.

Thanks

did Thomas and 'Lily' have any children ?

(just clutching at straws here !)

No idea. I couldn't see any matches but then I don't know the brides surname.

I was hoping you were 'tracking back' from a child of the marriage !

There are a few trees on Ancestry with Blanche Caines marrying Thomas House, but not one mentions her first-born son, who appears to have lived with his grandparents.

Hi Choccy

I started off with the War Dead page and worked backwards.
Typical of me not to take the easy route.

Thanks for your help. I've got a bit further ahead
