A tip ...

Several weeks ago when I was moving the computer from one room to another and therefore moving all the paperwork too, I picked up one of the family history files and out feel a heap of scrappy paperwork!

At least the paperwork was in the right file, but, I decided to have a proper sort out. So, rather than trying to file notes away or add the info to the offline tree and then rush off to the internet halfway through to see if I can find "that marriage" or "that birth" or whatever, I now have a TO DO list. I am tidying each file - slow job - and adding to the TO DO list and then doing all the bits of research in one go. It stops me getting too distracted and means that the files do not get any messier ... !

Give me another six months and it will be the neatest filing system in history!

In about a year - yes. But, full board and lodging, access to the internet 24/7, and £200 per day consultancy charges ... ?
