No age limit, but the witness must be capable of understanding what is going on.

Some registrars today ask that at least one witness is over 18, but there is no legal precedent as far as I am aware.

does some one know the rules to who can be a marriage witness.
i have a 1906 marriage where (if i have guessed right ) the witness is the younger sister of the groom and would be 15 years old .this wedding took place in the small farming community of misterton, notts.

jeannie an interested sort.
