It seems most of us have decided to get our hair cut this week.

I got mine cut on Monday NZ$25.00 [ NZ$2.60 = 1 Pound approx]
We have a Franchise Business here in NZ called ' Just Cuts' they specialize in cutting hair for all the family at an affordable price. you pay extra for washes and blow waves. As long as you have washed your hair in the last 24 hours they don't need to give you a wash ,

They are in all the shopping malls and you do not need an appointment depending how busy it is you either can be taken nearly straight away or sign in and then go do your shoppingfirst.

Ann if I was in England I would take that Chocolate off you right now...
Having Been to Holland and eaten dutch chocolate as well as having seen 'The Night Watch ' close up it doesn't seem fair that someone who does not like chocolate should end up with it [sigh]
Anyway Ann I am glad they had lots of Crispy Cream Donuts for you.

I haven't had a Farleys Rusk since my Son was a baby. He turns 21 in Two and a half weeks.
Like Frank mentioned they seemed quite small when you are an Adult.

Glad to hear your grand daughter is growing up fast Frank. Now she is on solids you will be able to send her some Haggis.:))

Looks like everyone is having their hair cut - my OH said one night he will grab me by the pony tail & snip it off - the long hair gets in his way when he wants to have a cuddle.

Josie i would happily let you have the chocolate - now I know what to have at the party - loads of Crispy Cream Doughnuts & a Chocolate fountain.

Josie, that is certainly a bargain for a hair cut. Mind you, I enjoy going to the hairdressers as it is a chance to relax for a while and I have a favourite hairdresser. Unfortunately she is off work on sick leave so I had to have someone else but it's turned out okay....I think.


Must admit Anne that I am glad my hair is short and easily manageable....it must take you ages to dry your long hair - Frank has the same problem with his apparently!!


Have done lots of housework today and decided to sit outside for a while this afternoon.......went to sleep for half an hour....oh dear.

I am afraid It will be little pop-ins over the weekend .

I have my dada and Step mother coming today to stay the weekend,then we have the Mother-In -Laws big 90th tomorrow with 150 people coming.

She is very excited about it,I hope it all goes to plan.

Anne I love chocolate too but alas I cannot eat it until I have reached my goal weight.

Has anyone heard from Reece ,I think about her often I do hope she is copeing OK.

Lovely & sunny today - absolutly manic here today - everyone seems to be back off holiday.

I have stupidly agreed to do overtime next Saturday - well need the extra pennies for our week away - so going to be really stressed out at the end of next week - Sunday off then 3 days of work.

Hi Everyone,
I thought I bet a let you know that I am still standing, following the 7.1 Earthquake that hit Christchurch. While my cat jumped on me about the time it hit 4.30am I did not feel a thing, though it was felt through most of New Zealand.

The media tend to exaggerate things so while the quake was shallow and there has been a lot of structural damage no one was killed and there where only 2 serious injuries.

There is currently no power and water in the city or telephones and limited cell contact, the airport is closed because of damage to the runway and all rail lines in the South Island of New Zealand have been closed.

Christchurch has a nearby seaport called Lyttleton Where most of the Immigrant ships from England brought the early settlers in the late 1800's
There were initial fears of a Tsunami but because of the shallowness of the Quake, there is no threat.

Meanwhile here in Wellington the sun is shinning but it is very cold after we experience a polar blast yesterday evening that brought thunder and lightening and hail storms not to mention the rain and the wind.
And snow down to 400 meters above sea level,
here in the suburb of Johnsonville where I live we are about 200 meters above sea level.

Time for another cup tea....... anyone want one?

I would love a cuppa Josie,we did hear about the quake and the looters going at it .

How could anyone do that when people are not there to look after there own houses.

We are just starting to get ready for the Mother In laws Party,it starts at 12 luch time until 3 Pm but I think it may go longer seeing as there are family members who have not seen one another for years ,I am starting to look for ward to it now should be a good day.

Hi Josie, I thought of you as soon as I heard the news about the earthquake. Very glad you are okay and that it isn't as bad as the media are making out. Seems there was also a bad plane crash in NZ too from what I heard on the news. Very strange that the two events happened at similar times.


Oh Sue, you are going to be sooo tired but I hope you also have a wonderful time. Remember to take plenty of photos and catch up on old times.


I have the excitement of getting our quilt cleaned today. Cor, I don't half live life to the full don't I.....lol? Just going down to collect the one from my daughter's flat so they can be taken together.


We've had some beautiful days here......so must take advantage of the sunshine and get plenty of washing done.

Josie I was so relieved to know that you are ok after the earthquake, I was very worried about you, hearing about the looters reminded me of when we were bombed in WW2, people used to loot our belongings which I thought was a dreadful thing to do as we had already suffered enough.
Its quite cold here at the moment although the sun is shining and I expect it will warm up later.
Ron is having a nap in front of the telly,I will have to wake him up soon as we are going out for lunch and he has to have a shower first.
I often think of Reece and hope she is coping lets hope she will pop in soon.
Its a long time since we have heard from dear Wayne, I must send him an e mail and check if he is ok, I will let you know if I receive a reply.

As I thought the Media has obviously blown the looting incident way out of proportion, Some opportunists threw a few bricks through a shop window but they were nabbed before they could steal anything. And police where fully in control following that incident.

There have been continuous smaller after shocks and high winds predicted for tonight pose a continuing danger, While the epicenter of the quake was in a rural area which sustained damage the worst damage was in the city center 30k ms away. With a number of city blocks collapsing, mainly 2 storied brick buildings.
Wending it's way through the City is the river Avon in places the river bed has lifted and there is flooding in some parts.
One of the inner city Petrol Stations has had it's underground Fuel storage tanks pushed fully up on to what remains of the forecourt the same thing has happened to a couple of in ground concrete swimming pools.
Just about every Road in the entire region has been damaged with lots of large open cracks and great humps.
Power and water have now been restored to 90% but many houses are considered to dangerous to live in and there have been fires spontaneously starting in some buildings even a day after the quake.
There is a state of civil emergency and the inner city has been cordoned off and a curfew is in place. No public buildings will be open until wed allowing for full assessment of there safety, this includes schools.
The full extent of the massive amount of structural damage and damage to the cities infra structure will be not apparent for a number of days yet.

The good thing is there were no deaths and only 2 serious injuries.

Well must go as my Daughter has just arrived as it is Father's Day here in NZ.

Glad all is well Josie - I too thought of you but knew you were up North a bit - Didn't realise NZ has so many mini earthquakes - just listening to the news on the TV.

Our semi adopted moggie is so much better - No after effects thank goodness - he is pearched half on the desk half on the windowsill looking out the window - he really wants to be out in the garden - but we are having one of those short sharp showers. He hates the rain - opened the window & he sits out on the ledge under the window - he gets the air & keeps dry - I sufffer the cold (as its quite chilli this morning - Autumn is on its way. Pursuaded him to get back in now - so he is trying to sit on my keyboard to stop me making a fuss of it instead of him. Its quite funny - my OH has been out with the polish again & done all the windowsill - so they are slippery for the cats - he keeps trying to wash & his paw keeps slipping, hence the move to the desk as its more secure.

Lovely to see you Robert - have a good time in London - hope your shell is nice & secure while you are away.

What a weekend !! Full on .

My Dad got here on Friday so I took him shopping for my Birthday Pressy ,He bought me a new jewellery box ,the last one he bought me was for my 21st and it is a bit small now and a bit old I might add seeing as I will be 60 this birthday.

Saturday was Mother in Laws 90th birthday ,that went really well...alot of people, we had a large room at the Hotel enough to fit 100 people ,they decked it out beautifull.

Sunday Dad wanted to go out in our Son in Laws boat to get some crabs as there are a lot out in the bay at present .

Dad left to go home about 4pm Sunday so last night we had both had enough and were really tired ,in bed by 10pm.

Josie I have followed the Christchurch Earthquacks,I did not realise Wellington had so many quacks as well .
So much damage,it must be heartbreaking for all those people to loose ther homes and so many hearitage buildings damaged that cannot be replace ,it is a great lose of history.

Nice to hear from you Evelyn and Robert have a nice trip to London Robert It is a nice city for Tourist;s but would not want to live there.
I hope life can get back to normal if only for a few days .

Went shopping for some new pans this morning and could have spent a fortune.....so many wonderful things to look at in home furnishing etc. I have put the idea into OH's mind that we may need new curtains............will let it sink in and then bring up the topic again. Hopefully, he may think it was his idea in the first place!! Womanly wiles.

Good luck Cynthia - it does work sometimes - and yes I do know who is in charge in this house - he is very sleek & trim - has a very cute siamese style face, is very cute & cuddly & very warm in winter when he sits on my lap. He has White & Black fur & gives me kisses. He only has to look at me & I give in.

I think it was an omen - we didn't stop all day & tomorrow & Wednesday are going to be worse, as we have loads out of the office on a training course.

Oh well - time to get the dinner on ready for OH's return to the fold.

I had a little ring box given to me by a favourite uncle when I was 7 - it really was far too small & the feet kept falling off & last year the hinges went for the 3rd time. For my 50th last year I treated myself to a new one in Madeira, with a mirror this time. John had to get rid of the old one as I couldn't.

I am so silly sometimes as if it would have hurt my uncles feelings - he has long left this side & crossed over he wouldn't worry about an old jewel box.

Oh Robert, and I was so hoping that you would have a lovely time. Never mind, you are back in your little shell and happy again.

Dear Cynthia and friends on Sue's thread,

I cannot thank you and friends enough for all your kind thoughts and prayers in my time of sorrow for my dear husband. Yes, they are indeed a comfort to me.

Although I have had the most wonderful support I am finding it extremely hard to bear because I miss his loving company all the time. No doubt, in the future, I shall be able come to terms with widowhood.

We held a beautiful memorial and celebration of his life in a woodland setting last Thursday afternoon with some pieces of his favourite music and old friends and colleagues speaking of their friendships with Peter. Everyone thought it very fitting and a perfect way to remember him. On Friday, in the last of three ceremonies, Simon, Miles and I are going to place his ashes in a Memorial garden with a plaque to commemorate his life.

Say "Hello" to everyone for me, please Cynthia, and my love and warmest thanks to you all.

We have had a day of sunshine and showers today and even some thunder and lightning with torrential rain. My grandma always used to like heavy rain as she reckoned it 'washed the pavements'......I think she has a point.


Back on the school run...........how time flies.

Off to celebrate my gt.grandson's 2nd birthday tonight....it's his brother's 1st birthday next Monday!

Cynthia it was nice to hear from Reece again and thinkyou for passing that on to all of us I do hope she is OK, it sounded like a really lovely memorial service she had for her beloved Peter,my heart really goes out to her.
Reece you are in my thoughts .

My OH had his Colonostopy yesterday,A few large pollops cut out sent away for testing so he is sore today, men are not very good patients to look after.

His father and Grandmother both died of Bowel Cancer so it is a thing he has done every three years .
The day before ,we call his prep day when he can't eat anything but strained chicken soup and Bonox drinks and he has to take a yucky drink to clean himself out(sorry if anyone is having Breakfast) but it is all part of life and I still have him around ,we try to look after one another it will be my turn in about 6 mths.

The eathquakes in New Zealand are terrible so much damage I feel for all of you over there Josie.

I am out shopping today but will try to pop in later tonight.
