Well well a Celeb in our midst - and a roving reporter

What have you two been up to while Evelyn & I have been away.

Sue & Sylvia shame on you for not keeping a better watch on these two.

Evelyn I wonder if it would have all happened if we had been around - looks like you two need a closer watch kept on your adventures.

Was that Sylvia's rolling pin on view again?

Thanks for the wise words Frank - don't know where the thoughts got dragged up from after all these years (over 30 years for some & 20 the other) The trouble is they are all regrets - its the if onlys again - things I should have done but was far too weak to do it etc. Just ended up with a few tears while typing, how stupid at my age too. Just added a few more tissues to the bin.

OH oblivious to all this as watching a film I recorded yesterday - swares he has not seen it - I know he has I saw it with him at least twice. Its a very good film too - so I am more than happy to have it on now.

Off to see the quack tomorrow as I think I am falling apart bit by bit & very slowly. I need to get rid of this pounding headache - I have a nasty feeling its either a trapped nerve in the neck again or from the very nasty bump on the head I had last year just before my first op. My consultant told me he though I had cracked my skull & should have an X-ray but I didn't want to put off my op. Then I thought it was all after effects from the various ops etc & so forth.

Now it just won't go away - so its time to do something about it, over 10 months of weird headaches for several hours nearly everyday is getting to be a bit of a joke, even by my standards.

Off to check up on my family tree etc as a week away & I have withdrawl symptoms.

This is your roving reporter for the South East signing off now & handing over to the team from the North West & Scotland for the night.

Stay tuned same time - same channel - I will return

Take care all

Robert

Well. aren't you getting all - what's the word- Journalistic-- no that's not the word but maybe you know what I mean. No?

Hi Anne,

It certainly is very difficult not to have any regrets and they do of course pop up at the most inoppertune moments.

I'm afraid Edith Piaf has a lot to answer for ......

The if onlys which could, might, should have made a difference to our ongoing lives when we may not even been aware of the possible changes.

A bit like playing a slot machine where by gradually selecting the perfect combination of holds, nudges and a bit of luck, you may once in a lifetime hit the jackpot.
More often than not, we end up with a few highs followed by some of lows.

Who knows if this really is a test on earth for us to follow on to the a new life, using what we learn here to our advantage in the next phase.
It might explain why some people just appear naturally more "savvy" about life.

Do I have any regrets, well apart from my obvious younger life, probably having five girls dump me (twice engaged!) before meeting mrs right and I can only explain that as my being too quiet, dependable and unwilling to take risks.
We all have to carry on but it is sometimes hard trying to cope with all the knocks along the way.

That's life.................

Hang in there Anne.

Tabitha Report 26 Sep 2010 19:54

Well Howdy there Jock - nice to have you drop in on us.

Just packing up for the night.

Thanks Frank for being there when I need you - i just need a bit of a kick up the *** on occasions.

Its all to do with the decisions I made a long time ago about my dogs - I regretted it at the time and still do - It would be lovely to be able to turn back the clock - its lovely to dream about them every now & then - but I always get so very upset - for several days after as well.

I am a great believer in Reincarnation - what goes around comes around etc. and in past lives and one of these days will pass on a few thoughts as to why i am such a great believer.

Now i am going off for a small snack as i have been trying to catch up on all the things i have missed over the last week.

I will put my investigative powers to another use & see what I can find lurking around in the fridge for me to eat.

Once again this is you Roving reporter in the SE signing off until the senior roving reporter from the Scottish region returns with his trusty notepad (or is it IPAD these days) closley followed by the Celeb amongst us with more tales of her Scarlet Adventures in the murky depts of the GR Thread.

Are there any others out there waiting to be discovered - Frank over to you & Jock to sniff them out.

Take care all - nighty night

FRANK06 Report 26 Sep 2010 20:44

Anne, I can think of someone else who could do with a kick up the a## but she's a bit too distant for me.

Robert is a lot closer in the north east and could just hop over the dales to administer the coup de grâce.

On second thoughts it's all right Robert, I don't think she would really notice with all that padding so it's not worth the risk of a journalistic exposé.

I know you like a quiet life ;)

sorry C

I've posted on that thread ...... I just couldn't believe ti

I've suggested that she should have pm'd you ... not nice to have done it publically

and that she make her board name more unique

Waiitng for OH to return from the airport .... he went to meet his sister, she's here for one night, leaves early tomorrow morning for another plane to Whitehorse.

She can't get there from her home in the north without coming south to Vancouver first.

Dentist for Oh and for me tomorrow ...... mine's just the 6 month check up. His appointment is part of the continuing rebuilding of his teeth!

Hi Everyone

I have just read the thread Cynthia, you seem to be stuck in the middle on this one.

To help or not to help that is the question,I for one think it is easier to not help anyone you cannot get in any trouble what so ever.just leave them to fend for themselves, not much fun in that though,I enjoy helping.

I think you do a very good job so don't let anyone put you off.

Spent the weekend in the garden ,my Weeping flowering Cherry is doing much better in a half round wine barrel with soil to suit.
I have planted a flowering peach in its place it is doing great.

Off to visit friends this afternoon.
See you all tonight.

Hi Frank,

You had me going. I was all set to run over the hills from the North East, then you said "Don't go". Disappointed- deflated- depressed.

Back in my shell.

Cynthia Report 27 Sep 2010 14:34

Well........ and I thought we had two gentlemen on this thread! Shame on you both. tut tut

shakes head in disbelief....

Can't trust anyone these days - especially north of the border it seems....huh.

Regaining my composure a little....

Thank you for your comments Sylvia....at least you have never (yet) suggested that I need 'a hoof up the kilt' as I once heard it said....

Sue, Kathleen's thread doesn't put me off helping at all as I get so many nice pm's from folk and it's good that I am able to help them find their replies.

Anne, so sorry you are going through a bad time. I know you have been working very hard recently and this may be taking its toll on you.

I guess we all have regrets about decisions we have made in the past - I know I certainly do. Hopefully though, we learn from sometimes bitter experience, not to make the same mistakes twice. We can't turn the clock back, but simply put the past behind us and move to the future that little bit wiser.

Well, this roving reporter is going to rove around the boards letting people know that they have been helped by our trusty volunteers.

Tabitha Report 27 Sep 2010 16:12

Cynthia - just had a read of the "Thread" how unpleasant - when a PM would do - Have to admit i gave up helping out when i went back to work - just didn't have the time.

Sylvia - well done - hope that has sorted them out

Personally I would just ignore the message if it bothered me and not stir up a hornets nest.

I wasn't the one who suggested a Kick up the kilt Cynthia - i said i needed a swift Kick - looks like Robert was getting all enthusiastic then & has now gone back in to his shell to sulk now.

I do have a person in mind Robert if you still have the inclination to pop out of your shell with your kicking boots on.

Well off to potter around with my tree - will try & pop in later.

Anyone heard from Evelyn?

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 27 Sep 2010 16:56

I have asked Kathleen to remove the thread so that the matter can be forgotten. I'm not sure that she understands
how many Kathleens I have in my contacts and, whilst I try to double check most names, sometimes I simply don't have the time.

Haven't heard from Evelyn in a while - wonder if she is still on her hols??

Morning all

(well it isn't yet 10:30am here!)

Dull, grey, and not too warm.

Have a dentist's appointment at 1:00 am ....... 6 monthly check-up

I got a pm from Kathleen ..... said she had replied to me on the thread, then deleted the thread, but wanted me to know that she considered my comments out-of-order, and repeating some of the things already said. Ended by saying "Please do not reply. Thank you"

so I replied :))

.................. mainly to say please to consider changing her board name to "distinguish yourself from the hundreds of Kathleens on this site.".

Perhaps that was a little bit of hyperbole ....... but there are at least dozens!

I wonder if she will block me?

ah well

off to have my shower ...... delayed because I got up to chat to sis-i-l before she left at 8:30 am, ate breakfast while doing it, then realised some of the exercises I have to do are uncomfortable if I have just eaten

that is my excuse for being a lazy slob and still sitting around in my dressing gown!!

We forgive you Sylvia - everyone should have a duvet day once in a while.

Well my headache seems to be connected to the trapped nerve - so he is going to get some tests done & suggested that I go see the Osteopath I saw last time as it worked.

Yes it did but it was £35 for 30 mins over 3 years ago - dread to think what it will be now - have to admit I could do with it as shoulder playing up again - which is a result of the neck hurting & me sitting in the wrong position. Its a never ending circle - so not a lot of help really.

Never mind - just falling apart bit by bit - comes to us all - glad I don't live in a shell as I think I would suffer more.

I hope you have a nice soft bed in that shell with a very warm duvet to snuggle up in - Is there a Mrs Robert who also lives in the shell?

STILL HAVEN'T FOUND OUT THE COLOUR OF THE KITCHEN ##

Goog change of subject.

Well this roving reporter is closing down now as back to work tomorrow - wonder what joys will be waiting for me there.

Take care all

FRANK06 Report 27 Sep 2010 22:16

Cynthia my dear,

It was not I that posted on Kathleen's thread and boosted it back up the boards for all the world to see..............It was that Sylvia, I decided not to post for that very reason ;)

Hey Anne,
Maybe your shoulder is playing up because you keep sticking your neck out in these journalistic exposés but suggesting that Sylvia wonders about clad only in a duvet is taking a big risk...........that rolling pin of her's is quite deadly.

Latest news from up north suggests that the two combatants in the war of contacts have moved back from the brink resulting in the deletion of the aforementioned threads.

It's all quiet on the western front !

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 27 Sep 2010 22:34

Excuses. Excuses .....sigh .... typical reporter of the male variety I fear. Surely you would be better off at the Conference being held in Manchester........Fearless Frank from the Sunday Sporran ....lol

Thank goodness that thread has gone. One does not wish to see ones moniker in the headlines again.

Anne, you know that pain in your neck? You could give it a name .......just five little letters.....starting with F and ending in K! Howzat??

Ah well, enough frivolity....I'm away to my duvet.

Take care my friends. Cx.

Tabitha Report 28 Sep 2010 13:15

Frank - would I dare suggest anything about wondering around in a Duvet only - don't think i actually mentioned atire once. What you have under your duvet is up to you.

Cynthia I am beginning to think you may be right about the Pain in My Neck.
Its more shoulder & head really so that could be caused by a Sunday Sporran reporter.

Getting concerned about Evelyn as I am sure she was back and Sue has gone quiet for a day or so.

We seem to be a dwindling thread.

Well won't talk too loudly but its a bit Quiet here today & I have training this afternoon - Can't beleive they all forgot my birthday and i have brought in Cakes as well.

Never mind getting far too old for birthdays any way.

Will wonder off and see if i can annoy anyone

Take care

Hello Everyone,
Wifi is available today so here I am.
Tomorrow we return to Guernsey but have to go via jersey and wont arrive home much before midnight, we wont come back to France until Easter next year. We have had a nice break and I am very reluctant to go home.
I havent read all the thread yet but it sounds as if someone has been rude to my friend Cynthia, take no notice Cynthia, we all love you and appreciate your help and interest, I think you are a gem.
How do you manage about groceries Robert when you are in your shell?,do you pop out or does the local supermarket deliver to you, if you have a problem I will send you a food parcel from Guernsey.
I have chores to do so will say cheerio and will be in touch soon,
Much love to you all

Robert Report 28 Sep 2010 15:53

Evelyn, I live a simple, frugal but healthy life and don't have much need for supermarkets. Being as old as I am and having been brought up during the War (World War 2), I stick to basics-- we don't need luxuries.

Hi all

I've been having server problems most of the morning ................ could get onto one of my sites, but nowhere else! They'll all be wondering why i have posted so often on that one when I normally only post once every 2 or 3 days lol!

Got another pm from Cynthia's "friend" ... told me I needed to lighten up, but wouldn't tell me not to reply as she "knew I would reply just to get the last word in"

Ha Ha ....... I'm NOT going to reply!

Robert ............ OH was born just before WW2 (I was born just after it began) .......... his Welsh grandmother used to take him to meet members of her farming family on various railway stations not far from Chester ... and get eggs, milk, butter and chickens from them

As the widow of a Welsh Methodist minister, she was terribly against the Black Market ..... but this was not Black Market, it was "family helping family boyo" lol!

Meanwhile, I, like you, led the frugal life, basics only, in a Northern mill town.

off for a little mooch
