Welcome back Frank - Happy holidays to you - just to remind you of the good days in DC.

Watched "White Christmas" I do love that film

Hope the sunburn has gone now Josie

Hope Everyone has eaten the Turkey - must say Deep fried sounds lovely for a change. think we will have enough Turkey to keep us fed for a while.

Robert - you are only as old as you feel - was going to say something else but had a change of mind.

Happy Birthday to your Daughter Cynthia

Will pop in again tomorrow - Sledgehammer didn't touch anything yesterday - will try again Monday or Friday if i get the time

Take care all from a very wet Brighton

Evelyn Report 29 Dec 2010 19:57

Hello Everyone,
well here we are Xmas all over for now only 360 odd shopping days till the next one.
We had a lovely Xmas, no cooking for me as my sister in law and her sister did it all, I just sat and was waited on, very nice for a change but I dont think it would suit me on a permanent basis.
Ron bought me a Sony book reader, now I have to learn how to use it, I will have a good read of the instructions before making any attempt to use it, Ron also gave me a £50 voucher for M&S, so I have done very well and am very grateful.
Watch out Robert I am catching you up age wise, I dont feel as if I am 78 well not in my mind anyway, I am still very young at heart.
Glad you enjoyed your trip Frank and hope work wasnt too much of a chore when you went back today.
We have company now so I must go, take care everyone, love to all

Anne,

I thought you were going to say "You're only as old as I feel" but then you are just a wee spring chicken, aren't you ;)

I don't need the flu jab...........too late and I've been using my poor wee ferret to keep my tubes clear..........blehhhh.

Now then Cynthia, did you want to be a windbreak on the beach............in this weather ?

By the way, if you have a condenser boiler it turns out that they are prone to icing up on the return pipe taking the waste steam / water back to the boiler.
On the older normal boilers they just vent it to the atmosphere!

That was in today's Daily Mail................

We don't have that problem as we're a hardy lot oop north and just use a fire :p

Quite busy today as companies try to get all the year end work out of the way before the next holidays.....only two days to go.

We are going to have a Les Miserables viewing on New Years Day as I bought my OH the 25 years edition at the O2 Arena for christmas and it's her favourite but I also got her Hypnose perfume and Paul O'Grady's "The Devill Rides Out"

Got to keep my beautiful wife happy ;))

All I was got another year's subscription of love..........

Tabitha

Tabitha Report 30 Dec 2010 13:58

Oh Frank - how sweet

Let me know what the 25th Anniv DVD is like - i have the 10th Anniv & love it - think i have worn it out

Did you see last night on BBC2 - wonderful - i cried buckets - i so want to go & see Les Mis again.

What i was going to say was "You are only as old as the person you feel" so this message may be deleted.

Evelyn wonderful to have you back again

Robert - age suites you - have you come out of hibernation now or is it the lack of Snow. what ever it is its nice to have you pop in so much.

Last day at work now till next year & its a better day than yesterday

Warmed up here as well - we are doing loads of litttle bitty things tomorrow - so hopefully will get to pop in tomorrow evening

However just in case

HAPPY NEW YEAR ONE & ALL

take care - not too much champagne now - i have to be at work at 7am next day

Have given up the shell, Tabitha.

I think I should change my image and start living a little!!

Dear Robert
I did not mean to be Impertinent rea.......ly

I was merely responding to what you had already said

quote: in the early days of my 'Old Age'

Maybe you are becoming a little forgetful!!! anyway am glad you have decided to come out of your shell and live a little.

Susan

Susan Report 31 Dec 2010 07:38

Hi Everyone

Robert glad to hear you are giving up your shell ...must be too cold anyway ,glad to see you out and about.

The last of the visitors are all gone home thank the lord ,I am just completely worn out looking after people .
I love them all but it does get a bit much after afew days of it.

It is very hot here so I won't go on about it as I realise you are all so cold in the Uk and Us.

We are not doing anything this New Years ...we are staying home and just having a nice quiet one on our own with a few wines and some nice big prawns that I picked up this morning in the shops .

It may sound funny but I am ironing at present ,the OH thinks I am mad but I hate letting it build up and we still need clean cloths to wear.

To all the Cricket lovers in the Uk Congratulations on retaining the Ashes your team did deserve to win ,all we can do now is try to draw the 5 test series and save some face with a win on the last test.

I am going to finish off my ironing but I will pop back later tonght.

Englerland have won the ashes.

Congratulations to the English. ;(

Commiserations to the Australians :))

Commiserations to the Scottish !?

Oh no, not more knighthoods for winning one match against only one other team.......it's hardly the world cup........ DOOHH

I'll just awaw 'n play wi ra haggis.

A very happy, sober or otherwise New year to you all when it comes.

Robert

Robert Report 31 Dec 2010 10:41

Yes, Frank,

Susan should have said "Congratulations to the English". Does she not realise that we have our own Cricket team?

A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL.

Susan

Susan Report 31 Dec 2010 11:22

Hi Everyone

Sorry Frank and Robert I stand corrected.

I did get it wrong on the UK,I did not know Scotland had a Cricket team.

I was sad to see our team go down so easy ,most of us are in shock as to what has happened to them, they are really a good team but I suspect England wanted it more than us and it showed.
We still have one more game and maybe we can even up to a drawn series that does not sound so bad.

A very Happy New Year to you all.

Apology accepted, Susan.

FRANK06

FRANK06 Report 31 Dec 2010 19:36

Oh Susan,

We forgive you but just remember never to mention Scotland & England at the same time........ unless of course it's to say Scotland gubbed England again ;))

Scotland do indeed have a national cricket team and Freuchie, one of our local Fife cricket teams famously beat Surrey side Rowledge to win the National Village Championship in 1985 and they still talk about it.

.........well England never stop talking about the World Cup, do they ;))

That's the new year almost upon us although some are getting a head start on the rest of us.............. just think poor Sylvia will be last ;(

Time to put the past behind us and hope for better in this year to come.

...........even for the English :)

Happy New Year XX

and a bracing handshake for you Robert.......... cheers!

Happy New Year To All

Saw the fireworks in Auckland & Sydney talk about a head start

How is 2011 then Josie & Susan?

Welcome Robert nice to have you back with us - are you & Frank going to do a sword dance for us?

My poor OH has a very annoying cough so is very grumpy as well & is going to sit up all night with the TV so he doesn't keep me awake. Really because I am working at 7am tomorrow & need to be awake to face all the weird & wonderful things we will get tomorrow.

Anyone want to lay a few bets on some of the things I am going to be asked for tomorrow?

Well I will away for nooooooo - Happy Hogmanay to those North of the Border & Robert nearly acreoss the border - have a wee dram for me
Lang Mey Yer Lum Reek

May we all have a very happy & healthy New Year & hopefully a more prosperous one.

Take care all & I will pop in again Next Year - see you all in 2011

FRANK06

FRANK06 Report 31 Dec 2010 22:01

Sword dance Anne..........

Have you any idea how much damage a man could do to himself dancing over a couple of swords while holding on grimly to a bottle of scotch.

Especially when we are kilted up in traditional costume.........Hicc.....ouch !

Shame you have to work tomorrow, but perhaps you'll have a quiet day........or will that be worse.

Off to bed as this chesty bug thing is still with me and as the hot toddy hasn't worked, at least I won't have a sore head.

Night all.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
EVERYONE

From Downunder

AND HAPPY HOGMANY Frank and Robert

My New Year's day is already half over here,

I'ts another warm sunny day, though not as brilliant as Christmas Day was. But I am not complaining.

Have stayed inside today as my Sunburn is now peeling and I do not want a fresh lot.

Wishing you all a Great start to the new Year and the new decade.

Happy New Year to all

My OH is really poorly - sounds like the same as Frank has

Well its all quiet on the western Front here - in one way I hope it stays like it - on the other hand I know I will get very fed up with nothing to do.

Who wants to play a guessing game?

What sort of enquiries do you think we will get today?

Its 7:15 & very dark outside - crisp & clear - left home at 6:10 to walk to work as OH too poorly to get out of bed - so he really must be ill.

Saw several people a bit worse for the night out - came across 2 people with their heads & arms hanging out of a wheelie bin snooring away - bottle of Vodka in one hand.

Further down the road 2 people opening the lisds of several Wheelie bins calling Jude - then they found her - obviously in the bottom of the bin & they were trying to tip the bin over to get her out. Several young lads sitting huddled together on a bench.

Well 7:45 & still dark - still no calls & very peaceful

May do a sneaky if I can & do the odd bit of Family tree work if no-one is around too much today

There is a message on the General board I think that is wonderful a whole new kind of New Year wish - will see if I can find it

Take care all
