Here it is - it was on chat
May peace break into your home and may thieves come to steal your debts. May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet for £100 notes. May love stick to your face like glue and may laughter assault your lips! May happiness slap you across the face and may your tears be that of joy. May the problems you had forget your home address.
In simple words, may 2011 be the best year of your life.

Lovely text Anne, oh that it could be so..................
Commiserations to your OH if he has this chesty, wheezy, blocked up listless affliction. I wouldn't even call it flu but merely a middle of the road thing which keeps pushing you down and I've had mine since Dec 23rd............aahh mine's different, it's American ;))
Woke up at 3.00am and there was my OH out for the count with Les Mis playing on the DVD accompanied by a couple of empty bottles of Chardonnay.
She was still there when I got up at 11.00am..................
I trust the celebrations have not have not left the rest of you with my OH's sore head.........she's off to bed.
Have a nice day.

Cynthia,
I am a quiet wee soul really - honest.
Trying at my old age to change my image, but maybe the "new" me is not me. Thinking about going back into my shell, but I have to go to London Tuesday/Wednesday so it will have to wait 'til I come back.

Looks like everyone else was a little worse for ware yesterday as very quiet on the thread
Looking forward to the test in Sydney on the 3rd
At least I have 2 days off now then its back to the slog. Next lot of time off is April - seems a long way offf.
Well early start this morning on the tree before I fall asleep this afternoon watching a programme I wanted to see - always happens
See you all later - I hope

Hey Anne,
Looks like it's just you and me.................
My OH and I are still under the weather and have decided to forego our lunch tomorrow with our Scottish grandaughter for fear of passing on this bug ......... whatever it is.
I hope everyone else is just too busy with the holidays rather than suffering any ailments........ being old doesen't count Robert ;))
Cynthia is probably still trying to dig her way out of the house but at least we are not suffering the flooding that has occurred in Australia.......... quite shocking as they are affecting an area the size of France and Germany !!
Sylvia will be back soon and we can exchange christmas stories.
Time for another Lemsip...........

Hi Everyone
I very happy new year to you all ,I are taking down some of the outside lights at present, it is really a big job and it is hot to boot.
I am leaving the ones on the roof for the boys to take down as you would emagine . So nice to get back to normal, nice to have Chrissy but always glad when it is finished.
The Oh went back to work today ,Its a bit like jet lag he recons ...very hard to get started again ,not to mention the Cricket is on today ....5 th test,I hope we do better in this one even if we level the series.
Anne sorry to hear you Oh is poorly ,I hope he recovers soon.
Frank sorry to hear you and your other half have also not been to well.
The floods in the eastern states of OZ have indeed been terrible for all ,lots of people have lost everything and to put a cap on it looters have been busy as well ,it really makes me sick to my stomach to hear that.
We are going to get some thunder storms on Wed so we have that to look forward to.
Catch you all later Suex

Hi everyone. Sorry to hear about all the ailments affecting you and yours....hope everyone recovers quickly. Mind you, no matter what ails our Frank, it doesn't stop him talking does it...bless his cotton socks.
The floods in Oz have been dreadful and such a trauma for so many people.
We seem to have recovered from our daughter's 40th birthday celebrations but it was a very quiet day really - just had a couple of friends round at night. Although I sometimes feel that she would like to be a party animal, she actually finds large gatherings difficult to handle so everything is kept low key.
New Year's Eve lost it's appeal for us long ago I think......we were in bed by 11.30pm. It's not the same without Andy Stewart and Moira Anderson on the telly - those were the days.
I am hoping to have my condensation pipe sorted tomorrow morning...yipee. Not before time.
So glad to be back to normal.....if I can be classed as normal!
Love. Cx.
Looks like we are in for some more cold weather - I can cope with that as long as the snow stays away.

Thank you for all your kind word - OH seems better today , getting grumpy now - touch wood I am still fine
Its colder today but brighter - I agree Cynthia - it was better with Andy Stewart & Val Doonican at New Year - nothing to sit up with theses days.
Have to admit if offered OT again for New Year's day I would take it, nice peaceful day & no silly calls.
Been a strange old time - doesn't feel like I have had any time off work.
I have an interview on Friday for the Senior Team Leader role - why do i put myself through this - I do hate it - why can't it all be done on merit like the old days. Now it has to be done on "tell us why you should get the job" "Tell us what you would do to improve the role if you were given the senior position"
Oh well heres to 9am on Friday - I am the 1st one of the day followed by 5 others.
Well back to the tree - will give the internet a miss today as don't feel like getting frustrated again - gives you a bad feeling all day & I need the peace before it goes barmy tomorrow
Take care all - welcome to 2011

Whit Cynthia, 11.30.
You could have tucked me in as I was gone by 10.30 and like you I can't be bothered with it anymore. I quite agree, give us Andy Stewart, Val Doonican Moira Anderson etc................Ahh, those were the days. ( Mary Hopkins wasn't it ? :)
STV had Michelle McManus as their Hogmany presenter, Aarrghh ????
I remember years ago taking a delivery out to Moira Anderson up in central Scotland on a very hot day and she invited me into her house to partake of some refreshments. I of course declined, but she really is such a kind lovely lady.
We are still struggling along, overdosing on Lemsip, Cavonia etc and just feeling quite lethargic......blehhh Cancelled our grandaughter's visit on Sunday and my OH decided against visiting them today to pass on the Christmas presents from America so we'll probably have them up next weekend.
Anne, I quite agree. All these "clever" questions and the requisite proper clever answer that is supposed to flag up the correct applicant for the post........hate it.
I recall applying for a post as a waiter at a casino restaurant after having spent 10 years working as a waiter, eight of those at The Gleneagles Hotel. I was recalled for a second three man interview..........oh oh, for a waiter!!
The winning applicant was a waiter who I was instrumental in having sacked at Gleneagles when he refused to work on for an extra hour with the rest of us at the end of our shift (We worked 12 hours, six days a week but were well paid) He lasted three months but according to the interview system, they got the right man?
At Gleneagles we used to get students who were taken aback at being asked to clean a floor or wash dishes and glasses since they had catering qualifications......even the head waiter rolled his sleeves up if required !!
Best of luck anyway Anne.

Hi Everyone,
Just enjoying one last 'Hazy Crazy Day of Summer' before I head back to work for 3 days. Which have been forecast to be wet windy and very humid
New Zealand is about to be hit by the weather pattern that has caused the devastating Flooding in Northern Queensland.
The rain will be a welcome relief to our Farmers in Northern part of New Zealand that are suffering drought conditions at present.
However it will undo all the hard work OH has done round our large property dealing to the long grass and many weeds which will now grow back twice as quick.....
I felt, seeing that I had abdicated from doing a family dinner on Christmas Day. That I should at least give them one in the New Year, so last night 6 of us sat down to Roast Turkey [ Recipe Gordon Ramsey, ] new baby Potatoes, and Lettuce Salad, followed by Pavlova Roulade with Mixed Berries. A delightful meal enjoyed by everyone.
Well of to watch a re- run episode of one of my favourite TV Shows Doc Martin. Take care Catch You all later. Josie

Happy New Year everyone!
I'm sorry to read that so many of you are suffering from colds and coughs.
Frank, I was glad to see that you got home ........ I was worried that you might have got caught up in that big snowstorm that hit much of the eastern US last week.
Reece ....... lovely to see you back. Do hope that all went well for you over Christmas and New Year. It will have been a hard time for you.
Anne .......... hope you get your OH better soon, and that work does not become too manic!
Sue and Josie .................... aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhh. Mentioning all that hot weather, and Pavlovas! How mean can you be???????
Robert ... lovely to see you emerging from your shell, and I hope you have a safe and pleasant trip down to London
Evelyn.......... how are you finding that reader??
C ................... I hear you no longer need the broomstick! :)))
Regarding our trip .............
I got my 3rds and 4ths all mixed up!!
I was absolutely convinced that we got back on Tuesday 4th .............. but the train timetable said Monday 3rd!
So we got back on Monday, but we have been running in little circles since then, and this is the first time I've really had time to spend on the computer!
We had a great time ............ lots of congenial company on the train going, with the usual good food.
Then a good time with J, M and MJ ..... although M had a melt down on Christmas Eve with J, and then J had one on Christmas night with me ...... both spats only lasted a short time, and things improved.
MJ is a delight .......... almost always laughing and smiling. I think he has decided crawling is a waste of time ..... he's going to go straight from just sitting there to walking!
We had snow overnight Boxing Day / 27th, which meant that we cancelled a trip to meet up with M's grandmother, a delightful lady who will be 85 in February. She lives about an hour away, but they always get much worse snow than Halifax, and as Halifax got about 5-10 cm snow ............................
Then another great train trip back, with more congenial people. We spent New Year's Eve on the train somewhere in northern Ontario. The chefs cooked a special meal ........... I had the most delicious, tender, beef tournedos that I think I have ever had.
Then there was a party in the lounge of the dome car at the back of the train ............. mainly just chatting, but with some entertainment from a folk singer. Then, close to midnight, there was free champagne and canapes, party hats and noise makers, and several senior members of the train crew (including one of the chefs) came to join in for midnight.
They then began talking about celebrating again in one hour!
We had celebrated on Eastern time, but we were actually in the Central time zone which is one hour behind
OH and I decided we were too tired, and swayed our way back through the 4 carriages to our cabin!
One of the Australian couples on this return trip was from Rockhampton in Queensland, and were extremely worried about the situation there. They kept checking the web at every possible opportunity (ie, station stop) ............ there is no internet availability on these trains. The information they were getting seemed to imply that they would be stuck in Brisbane after they arrive back in Oz on Thursday, with no way of getting into Rockhampton.
There was another couple from Adelaide, and she is a member of GR!

Happy New Year and welcome back Sylvia. It sounds like you had a wonderful trip.
Where is everyone? I found us half way down page 2.!!
At the moment we have very high humidity, strong gusty winds and light rain the Weather front that devastated Rockhamton is now over New Zealand and some towns in the South Island are bracing themselves for flooding tonight as water levels rise in Rivers and lakes due to heavy rainfall in a very short time span.
Wellington is lucky we have the wind that blows the rainclouds away and the forecast for tomorrow is for bright sunshine.
All the best for your Interview Anne, At A job interview I went to a couple of years ago for a part time sales Assistant I was interviewed by the new Manager all of 24 years who wanted to know where I saw myself in 5 years time! Working of course dah!!
and what my career aspirations where?
At 50 I was not looking forward to a career, simply a job to tide me over to retirement, working for me is not a choice but a necessity as OH Is on a low wage and now he is 60 due for retirement in 5 years.
Even though I Had more Retail Qualifications and experience and product knowledge than she had I lost out to a 18 year old that lasted 4 weeks.
Time to go and make some Dinner for OH and me. Take care everyone, Josie

Hi Everyone
Sylvia ! welcome back we have missed you ,very glad to hear your trip went well.
The train trip sounds wonderfull ,the Rockhampton couple you mentioned will not be happy with what has happened there with the floods ,it really is heartbreaking to see it all ...on the Tv for us as we live over the other side of OZ.
We had very heavy rain yesterday,I am not knocking it but it is not normal at this time of the year and it is now very humid.
I am looking forward to William and Kates wedding,I love weddings and the Royals do them so well,I can still remember Dianas,I thought she was beautiful such a sad lose and would'nt she be so proud to see her son now.
Just finished getting the rest of the outside lights down, all packed away until next year and we do it all again.
Doing a roast tonight, leg of Lamb for a change. Check back later Nice to have everyone back. Suex

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR SYLVIA, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.
FOR SHE'S A JOLLY GOOD FELLOW.....etc.etc.
Have a very happy day Sylvia.
Josie, I just look for this thread in My Threads so I never really notice how far down it's got unless I'm doing my messaging. It must have been pretty galling for you to lose out to an 18 year old who only lasted that short length of time.
We were having this conversation with some vistors yesterday - about how so many big institutions - BBC etc. seem to be fixated on whizz kids and then wonder why things go wrong! It's because they need a good balance of age groups to represent the population.
Come on Anne, how did it go?
Hope Robert had a good trip down to London and is back home safely tucked up in his shell.
Frank........how's that chest of yours. Very manly I'm sure, but is it better?
Had a busy day tidying up after the last two weeks so am hoping to 'chill' a bit today.
It seems we are in for another cold snap so that will be a test for my newly installed doofah and lagging on my condensation pipe. Here's hoping!
Love to all. Cx
