Hi Everyone
Thankyou so much for your support,it really means a lot to me.
The lose of my Aunt was the last bit of my Mum on earth as they were twins so as long as she was alive a bit of my mum was too if that makes any sence to you all.
I am all packed now but I am so scared to fly on my own ,I have been told I will be looked after very well by Emirates.
It is a direct flight so hopefully the time will go quick,I am taking a book by Micheal Parinson to read on his life story so that should help me pass the time away.
The funeral is Wednesday . I will be intouch on my sisters Computer as she is with Genes as well .
Cooking the last roast for my Oh tonight so better get back to it. Love to you all Suex

Gosh, I didn't realise it had been so long since I had posted on here.......
Sue, so very sorry to hear the new of your aunt's death. It's always sad when we lose someone we are close to - I send my love and prayers. I am sure you will be fine on the flight...whereabouts in the UK are you going to?
There have been some good ideas by Josie and Anne - I like the neck pillow idea...I use one every night.
Frank...I am so pleased with myself....I have downloaded IE8 on my desktop......yeah...... I actually had some time to spend upstairs on my own when I could concentrate....and hey presto.....I did it. I will ignore your comments which included the word 'slim'.
I missed Evelyn popping in......~~~~~~~ to her. An e book eh? We have looked at those but haven't been tempted as yet. Enjoy France.
Am gearing myself up to give a presentation on being the parent of an adult with Asperger's on Friday. Our four local MP's have promised to attend..........gulp.
Amazing what pleases me, but today, I am delighted that we managed to dry some washing outside............I really must get out more!
Take care all. Cx

Hope Sue is ok on the flight - no idea where she is going in the UK - could be anywhere as Emirates go into most International airports.
Nothing to report today - think we are all fed up with January - its been a really ****** month so far & if this is how 2011 is going - I wish it would vanish or clean its act up. Its been a really sad start to the year all round.
Off to have a mooch
Take care all

Sad to hear that our Sue has lost a loved one Anything Emirates is number one I say that because my brother in law worked for them in Dubai as a Head direct flight services officer. He sadly had a heart attack at the age of 40yrs while he was out sailing with his sons. The airline flew everyone free of charge from every airport in australia to his funeral and paid for accommodation as well and back home again, my wife was one of them.
On another note now our river is rising at a slow rate neverthe less it will flood all the river flats but the Gov says no it wont, we wait n see, its always best to ask the local river rats.
LDS I have fixed mine the cause was that I use "palemoon and chrome"and they were clashing with each other so by updating the software it's now ok allowing we to use and login as well and to do the indexing. I sent all the procedures to Admin in Fam search so if any others have trouble then they can advise what to do.
I picked this snippet up the other day from: The Lancaster Gazette and General Advertiser, for Lancashire, Westmorland, &c. (Lancaster, England), Saturday, February 23, 1805 as it will not allow me to past it I shall type it. A few days ago Mr J. Woodstock to miss Jane Pellham ( both of Threeplanted Trees in Cumberland) whose ages together make 38yrs. They have always lived in the one house, and are now, by marriage not only as Husband and Wife, but also Brother and Sister!
Was this a common occurrence in those days???
Just something I thought I'd share with you.

Palemoon and Chrome???? You sound like the Tinman out of the Wizard of Oz Wayno. As for your article being a common occurance in those days, I think you would have to ask Sylvia.....she may remember!!!
Whoops...I can sense a rolling pin flying through the air!
Where's our Ven. Robert these days? Hope he hasn't been blown out of his shell with the bad weather.
OH bought a couple of David Attenborough dvds with the vouchers he got for Christmas and they're so good to watch. I love his voice and he doesn't talk too much - the photography is wonderful. Just watching Cicadas (?) - insects which only come out from underground every 17 years....fantastic.
I'll be glad to get January over with too because it will mean we're getting nearer Spring and that's my favourite time of the year.
Just getting myself together ready to give my presentation tomorrow and that's something else I will be glad to over.
Nothing exciting today except that we spent a voucher we received and bought a slow cooker amongst other things - I will experiment with it next week probably.
Love to all. CX

Have to admit, the Australian floods have slipped from our news now, and it is very difficult to find out anything about them. Although I did hear this morning that there has been an increase in income tax to help raise the monet that will be needed to repair structures etc.
Hoping that Sue is having a good flight, and arrives safely in the UK

Hi there here is another site that will keep track of our flooding country:
http://riversmart.net.au/Flowtracker.htm
if the viewing is too small then there is a downloadable pdf to pin point where and what is.
Pale Moon is an upmarket firefox browser and Chrome is from google much quicker and more responsive and clearer.
the best new one that has been upgraded is Opera according to my guru that swears by it.

Cynthia - you do push your luck - hope your presentation goes well
Well its all sort of ground to a halt here - won't use the Q word but it has slowed right down - very strange
Sun is out - but still chilly
Loved the clipping Wayne - is that the done thing in Lancashire then?
Something to make you laugh
Where I stayed in Italy (lovely family) very strange people - The couple married late in life so were in their late 50's - had an 18 year old daughter & 16 year old son. I was there to help with their English.
Parents decided to go away for 2 weeks & left me in charge (silly people) - the mother said to me before they left.
Not to worry about the children - they will be lonely & unhappy without us - so they will sleep together in our double bed while we are away - that way they will feel closer to us. I must have looked a picture - mouth open & gobsmacked.
Well we waved them off - no sooner had they disappeared over the hill - Anna vanished into her room & came out very quickly with her suitcase & got on the phone (i was still in the hall) - she said to me " You no worry about me - I not sleep in mama & papa bed - but you not say that to them - I go stay with my boyfriend - we sleep together natural way - we have lots of *** together - i come home day before parents home - you do what you like" boyfriend arrived on moped & they went off over the hill -
i had no idea where he lived or a number for her.
Next Carlo aged 16 appears with suitcase - "you not to worry - i no sleep with Anna - I go to friends house - work in his papas Pizza shop - stay there - we go out drinking & have fun - I back before parents back - they not know - you not know or say to them - you enjoy time here alone" & his friend arrived & he went off on his moped.
So I called my friend (who had got me the job) told her - she said don't worry as they had a cleaner - just lock up the place & have a few days away or stay put & enjoy the pool & house. So i did - then i bought a train ticket for a weeks use, packed an overnight bag & went off to Pisa, Florence, Milan & Rome. slept overnight on the trains or in a youth hostel & got back the day before the parents were due to arrive.
I left all my details with my friend & a note by the telephone for the family & the cleaner.
The weather in the resort the parents went to was really bad - so they decided to come home four days early - oops No children - no idea where they were & no me (but did have my note) - so they contacted my friend (also known to them) who gave them all the info. they didn't blame me at all. i would have loved to have been there when the children returned home & found their parents there.
When I got back (well i was confused) I had a full apology from the parents & they made the children grovel for the way they behaved to me. the children were grounded for 3 months & had to do all the cleaning & jobs for 6 months. Didn't dare ask about the boyfriend situation. Two weeks later i left for home. Always wonder what happened, but I did have a lovely week travelling around the countryside.
Well back to work - will try & pop in over the weekend.
take care all

What a crack up ! had a good laugh Anne, wonder what the Kids said to the parents when they got home? It sounds as if it was very creative.
Sorry Anne that I did not check in earlier, decided that this Saturday morning instead of lazing around I would get into some serious housework. It's wonderful that the Sun is shinning over here except it tends to show up all the dust and dirty marks around the house and I do not have any excuses not to do something about it as since Christmas I have been only doing the bare minimum.
Mind you living on the other side off the World means I am always talking to myself as you guys are always asleep when I am on Line.
Sweet dreams all am of to make my lunch. josie

Hi Everyone, Had my Lunch then spend 8 hours on the new Findmypast.com.au site that has Australian and New Zealand Records, they are offering a 24 Hour Free Trail and you only have to give a name and email address, you need a different Email address if you currently registered or have a subscription to Findmypast UK. Got some useful info on some of my OH's Family. Only frustrating aspect is that a lot of the records are lists of names from books and if you have surnames like some of mine for instance Short, Onions, Brew the search engine will bring up every mention of these words especially short, and hopefully as you wade through pages you might get lucky and find an actual person.
Having found the info am of to update my tree, Catch you all later Josie

Hope Sue is settled at her sisters now, and she wraps up warm or manages to find a nice thick winter coat here, & jet lag doesn't hit too hard - such a strange feeling - being back in the UK on such a sad occasion. Wonder how near we all are to her - would like to offer some moral support.
Lovely day today - bright blue sky - very cold & crisp - heck of a frost this morning.
Funny to think when we are all up & about Josie, Sue & Wayne have had their day & are settling down for the evening.
Funny old world we all live in - nice to see someone managed to get some work done on their tree. i am off to interrogate Family sesrch again - expect i will get use to it eventually.
Will look in again later if i can - Take care all

Hi all xxx
I'm hopeless if anything "wobbles" with this computer .... I have to get OH to help out.
I could do anything with the one I used to use at work ....... disconnect, re-connect, change printer ink, etc
but for some reason, this one has defeated me for the last 7 years!
Hope Sue has arrived safely, and is settling in at her sister's

I too hope Sue has arrived safely at her destination and has settled down. A sad time for her though.
I have had the most frustrating time with this computer of mine.
I asked for my package (phone/broadband) to be downgraded a couple of weeks ago and was told it would happen on 28.1. Come the day, I cannot get onto the internet but, as it was my presentation day, I had to forget about it for a while. The presentation went really well and so we are hoping for a good outcome from it.
However, during Fri/Sat, I spent almost 4 hours on the phone trying to sort my computer prob out. In the end, it was discovered that not only had I been downgraded, I had also been disconnected!!!
To say I was annoyed is a very large understatement. I was told it would take up to 6 weeks to re-connect me because a new line would have to be put in (some tekkie talk). Decisions, decisions...........stay with them or go to a new provider???
I have decided to stay with them as they have offered to reconnect me at no cost and will also waive my line rental for 3 months.
Meantime, I am using a dongle. I went to enquire about one and was offered one for free because Carphonewarehouse and TalkTalk are connected and it was another way of apologising. However, that has a time limit on it, so my daughter has very kindly offered to let me use hers whilst she is at work etc. so that has helped a great deal.
They were mega apologetic but it caused a very stressful weekend I can tell you!
Who would have thought that helping someone with their English could lead to such high jinx?????? funny though.
Take care all. Cx

Looks like we all have fun where computers are concerned.
All i will say is - strange things do happen in this house.
Yesterday we searched for the cable - reluctantly I searched my computer cupboard - mainly books pens & computer books & a few memory sticks - nothing - even shone a torch in there - nothing - so we decided to go to PC world this afternoon - I had a few hours oweing me - I was twittering away to myself as usual - OH went upstairs to have another look in the computer lead drawer. I had just washed my hair when a thought entered my head - pull out all the memory sticks the cable is behind them. Grabbed the tourch & once again went back to my cupboard - shone the torch in again, ready to move all the items out & there was this plastic bag in the corner - in plain view (where I would have seen it yesterday even without a torch) with the cable sitting there bold as brass.
I am sure I have an angel looking after me sometimes - who manages to save me a bit of cash.
Well came home & managed to get the printer fixed.
We are also looking at changing our broadband - trouble is - is it better the devil you know - too many pros & cons all over - think i may have a good sleep on it.
Anyone else been having weird dreams lately - really strange ones that make no real sense?
Cynthia glad the dongle has let you back in to join us.
We seem to be missing people at the moment.
Sue - if you see this - we are all thinking of you at this sad time - please pop in - if only to say you arrived ok & are feeling the cold - we miss you - we are want to give our support at this very sad time.
Well I am off now - Take care all

hi all xx
lovely and sunny here ............. but that comes with low temperatures!
some good news on the insurance front, re the generator
OH has to find out how much it would cost to replace the generator, and let the assessor know.
There will then be a $200 deductible, and the insurance company will issue a cheque for the balance.
We do have replacement insurance for the house and goods ......... have had for 30 or 40 years. But this is the first time we've had to make a claim. (fingers, toes and everything crossed!).
We've decided that we are probably not going to replace the generator ......... we've been talking for a couple of years that it is getting to the time when I no longer enjoy going up there, and time to consider selling the place. We can rent a generator when we do go up, for a day, week or month.
