Hi Everyone
We have just got back from Perth the city to see my Dad for a few days ,he is well.
I see Frank got taken in with this stupid earth coming to an end ,you did'nt really think it would happen did you. I remember a few years ago someone else saying the same thing,I really don't know why they do it ,it just scares people . I suppose they have to get there kicks somewhere.
Cynthia I thought the Queen going to Ireland was a great idea here's hoping it heals a few wounds,God knows it has been going on for far to long.
While up in Perth I set Dad up with Skype, and downloaded a web cam for him ,he can now see and talk to all his elderly brothers and sisters in the Uk . It was wonderful to watch him last night...brought a tear to my eyes as he is now to old to travel back to the Uk for another trip so this is the only way he can get to see them.
That was the reason for going up to Perth in the first place...I hate going up there everyone is in such a rush all the time.
Anne glad you got your computer sorted it is very frustrating is'nt it but a lot of fun when it all goes right
Ops !! That's Dad calling me again on Skype,I hope he has not done anything wrong already I only left him 3 hours ago. Be back later. Suex
Edit So glad to get my Spellcheck back

Oooops,
Cross St Tabitha and St Sylvia off the list on high.............. St Cynthia ?
Anne, glad to see you got to grips with the wireless printer connection as I did warn you of the blind leading the blind. I was unsuccessful in my attempt before I reset my computer so I'm now building up to having another go.
Why, in these days of super computers can't it be a simple process to select a printer and tell it to connect wirelessly with the router allowing the computer to do all the neccessary security work witout hitting us with lots of gobbledeygook. :S
I was going to ask which choice words worked for you but I have an Epson so they probably wouldn't work....... perhaps a good kick would do it. :P
By the way, I had a warning e-mail from BT that I was in danger of exceeding my usage allowance of 10GB but I can put that down to the fact that I had to download lots of updates etc for my clean computer. There is a BT usage monitor available from BT which shows your day to day usage for peace of mind.
"How do I access the usage monitor?
You access the usage monitor through My BT. In the product section of My BT there is a 'View your broadband usage' link. Click this link to open the usage monitor. If you haven't got an online account, just go to www.BT.com/mybt and sign up."
Computer advisory services signing off from hell.
See you soon ? ;-)
EDIT............. Welcome down Susan. :S

I'm here Frank.....I haven't been 'ruptured'.....er....I mean 'raptured' or whatever it was that was supposed to happen to us. Wonder how those who really believed it are feeling now??
I can remember this sort of prophesy when I was at school back in the dark ages.......as giggly girls we got all 'hyper'.....must have driven the teachers mad!
Remember the men who used to walk around with placards on their fronts and backs? The End of the World is Nigh! blah blah blah.
I have only skimmed the tekkie talk cos I don't know what you are on about but I am glad Anne has sorted out whatever it was.
Sue, it's good that your dad is doing well.....hope it stays that way.
It's very windy here and we were supposed to get a lot of rain but have only had a small amount..........let's wait and see....
Just going to settle down to watch Vera the new detective series on TV. I love a good murder story ;-)
Have had granddaughter since lunch time and she decided to give me a new hairstyle. She used straighteners and a lot of hairspray! OH took one horrified look and daughter said "You're not going anywhere looking like that".....I guess they weren't that impressed!
Take care all.....Cx

Not likely Sylvs......they were warned!!
It took three washes to get the spray out of my hair! At least I look fairly normal now and it's hairdresser time on Thursday so I should look fairly stunning after that......lol
It's been pouring down here but is now bright and sunny. To put the washing out or not to put the washing out, that is the question!
Got a pile of ironing to do ....... with a new iron. Daughter was just giving something a quick onceover yesterday and said she could smell burning! I took over and there was smoke coming out of the top of the iron. Hmmmm. not good. Unplugged and binned. Fortunately, I had a new iron in the cupboard which we bought last year when we thought the other had packed up. Good job too!..I hate being without an iron.
Love to all. Cx.

Glad to see all of our angels have come back to hell / home. ;-)
Today has seen torrential rain along with gale force winds causing lots of tree damage. One huge tree has fallen out of our park, blocking a four lane main road along with both pavements and I watched a couple of cyclists heaving their bikes over the trunk before clambering over it and carrying on home. :S Needles to say , the roads have suffered badly with closures due to the wind so I hope they hurry up with the chainsaws............
Now a rant about Virgin Media.
I've changed to BT after having been with Virgin for many years without the offer of any upgrade to my services while paying a lot more than the newer wireless services do. My problem is that Virgin are still charging me!! They sent me an e-mail confirming that my service would be disconnected on 4th March. I sent them a copy of that e-mail along with my account and password numbers as well as reference numbers and just had a reply....
"I'm sorry but we can only deal with the bill payer and you have sent the wrong password"
Hello...................., My account should be closed, but you are still charging me and looking for passwords.???
Phoning just doesn't work as they are in India or Pakistan and while they speak English, they do seem to have a problem actually understanding it.
HEEELLLPPPP. :S
One letter presently being written to Sir whatisname. ;-)

Are you on FB Frank? That is the way I got my problem sorted with TalkTalk earlier in the year. Like you, I got the run around with phonecalls to India etc.etc. In desperation, I put a polite but angry comment on their FB page and the prob was sorted within a very short space of time. Worth a thought!

Frank - why not canx your direct debit as of today - then you have all the time in the world to write to Virgin media & claim back April & May - you know they charge you for the month you disconnect.
I got throught to an English girl i used the leaving Virgin phone line 0845 454 2222 as per their website - she was very helpful but tried hard to get me to stay. She told me they were faster than BT. She said it would be on 100MB soon in my area with cable - we don't have cable - that would cost to install and it would be min £35 a month for the higher speed - Still not convinced.
Wrong we are a lot quicker with BT now and its cheaper. It will be so much faster when Infinity reaches our area - talk about beam me up Scotty
Happy days - should have our internet connection in Thorpe Bay when we are on holiday - the joy of having Internet at the in-laws bliss
Well better get some work done as I have been here 30 mins already.
Take care all - be back later

Anne,
I got the same sales pitch almost in English but they did have trouble when I told them I was with ADSL and not cable ??
I actually phoned them twice to check that I was no longer with Virgin and had been transferred. One person with a strange accent said yes and one person with a strange accent said no. :S
Logged on to my old Virgin Media account using the "wrong password" and it worked perfectly so I've sent off one last e-mail with every reference number and password that I can think of, so we'll just wait and see.

Hi Everyone
Frank what a little cutie (photo) I presume it is the granddaughter, they do grow up very quick so enjoy them when they are little and cute.
We absolutely spoilt ours.
I have been trying to help a friend of mine who was adopted at the age of three and she is now trying to find her birth father. I do have her birth rego at birth no father entered,he was an Army Guy in 1955 stationed in Plymouth. He did pay maintenance until she was three when her mother married and she was adopted by her stepfather. With her mothers death she now has no where to go to find her natural father,we know his surname but that is all . Who do we contact for details of the adoption we think it should have her real fathers details on it .
I have also put this on Genealogy Chat.
Nice bit of rain last night but still way behind what we need to survive the next summer.
Frank can't you go to your bank and stop Virgin from taking money out of your account, this is one of the worries I have with changing providers and there are a lot of good deals out there now compared to when I first signed up with mine.
Changed Dads plan with his provider on Sat he has 20gig's with a much faster speed for 39.95 month...we are much more expensive than the Uk for Internet.
Big day today changing bed and washing also trying to get my ironing done as well....that should knock off a full kilos.
Love to everyone. Suex

This is Nieve Mary our Scottish grand daughter and she has just started crawling at ten months old............
I received an e-mail from Virgin ( Jincy Sajit ) and just decided to try the phone number that Anne had suggested.
### Thanks for your e-mail to Virgin Media querying why you?re still being charged for your broadband service. We're sorry that you?re uncertain of your password and would like to explain why you?re still receiving bills. We would like to explain the reason why you're being charged even after receiving a MAC just as soon as you quote the correct customer verification password (CVP). ###
I actually spoke to an English girl who told me I had not cancelled my account as required but on pointing out that Virgin had sent me an e-mail stating that my Mac code had been used and my account would be cancelled on 04/03/2011.............
"Oh, yes I can see that e-mail. We will cancel your account and refund the overpayment."
No apology, shocking.
It's not as if I was trying to withdraw cash or change details or anything really important, just to cancel an account which by their records had been cancelled but the payments had not. I sent them all the details, bank direct debit references and passwords but no one could put two and two together to make four........ they just kept getting three. :S
The customer verification password (CVP) was the initial password I used when setting up my Virgin 24/7 account which was about seven years ago + and there is no mention of it anywhere in my account. You have to admit that if they could forget all about little old me then I am quite entitled to forget my CVP! :P
I had thought of cancelling my Direct Debit but the worry is that if they had a good reason for charging me, then my good credit rating could be upset with a note on my file saying that I did not pay my bills as required.
Cynthia, you are quite right. My wife is on Facebook but I have better things to do with my time rather than telling old fogies what I had for dinner :S ;-) :P :D
I was the last person in the whole world to find out about Ryan Giggs.......... and I was shocked :-( :S
Scampi & peas & potatoes.............. :P

Frank she is so sweet - do you have one of the American Grandaughter on her own as well - i loved the one of the two of them together.
Glad the VS problem is sorted - will check mine next month - all seems well at the moment fingers crossed.
Do you know if the Free Fon mins we get are only used when conncected to the Fon outside the home address or is the time also calculated on your homehub use as well. I am very confused with the info on the help pages.
Why is nothing simple these days
i know except me - there said it before anyone else does.
Robert is your shell WI-FI'd or have you had broadband brought in for you?
Evelyn has been very quiet lately - wonder whats going on in France or is she back home now.
Well off to do some work - just for a change - have a day off tomorrow so I can play with the laptop and broadband at home and hopefully keep the air a nice shade of violet - rather than the stormy blue one we had last week. The fun comes when we try it out at the outlaws.
I am working Saturday & Bank Holiday Monday (need the extra pennies) as I have a week off in June with the outlaws so no overtime
Will pop back in later
Take care all

I wasn't going to do FB but was persuaded and am now hooked. It isn't all about what you had for your dinner.......you can 'chat' and, if you have permission, view your friends' photos.......I have quite a lot on there... ;-) and, you can take part in all sorts of discussions.
I was disappointed in Ryan Giggs too. He used to live not far from me and I used to drive past his house quite regularly. Sometimes I would rather no know what the rich and famous get up to......it's bad enough with everyday folk at times!!!
Hmmmm you're right Anne, Evelyn has been quiet and so has Reece and Kiwibird, not to mention the Ven. Robert. Are you still watching us discreetly Robert?
My new photo is of my mum....it's her glamorous shot! Apparently friends told her that she looked like Dorothy Lamour.....whoever she was.... ;-)
Have had my hair cut today so feel quite lightheaded and giddy.....lol
Hope everyone is okay. Love. Cx.

C
Dorothy Lamour was a very glamourous star of the 1940s ........ ws in all, or almost all, the Road to ..... films with Bob Hope and Bing Crosby
She was very often cast as a character that had to wear a sarong!
as we tell so many newbies ............... google, google, google! :)))
