I have found a Joseph in the IGI (St Andrew's, Holborn) b 1803

I think I have him in 1841 (aged 35)with wife Mary - which means they could well be the witnesses at Sophias marriage. I think that rules out the St Martins lot.

Parents of this Joseph (and Sophia) are Joseph and Ann - any ideas on getting more info would be welcome!!

I think the St Martin in the fields Guests are a red herring. Ages don't fit if Joseph is Sophias Brother - b 1817 can't marry in 1826 and Sophia 1813 would only be 14 in 1827.

Much more likely the others as St Andrews Holborn features in all the records and is closer to Hackney as well.

Is Joseph who married 1826 bachelor or widower - that might help.....

Thanks - looks like either Sophia's brother or a second marriage for her father.

There is a batch of marriages in the IGI 1805 - 1815 in the same church with parents Joseph and Ann.

Still, it gives another lead in the 20 year long search!! I can see some census searching coming up!
