Thanks to all that helped with my research into Hugh Johnson . It seams that he may have been born Hugh Simmonds. Amy Simmonds was a boarder in Richard Johnson's house in Shalford Surrey in the 1911census the same children's names as 1901 census but all Johnsons except for Hugh but a William born 1906. My father Hugh was always called Bill.
